TEXTURE ON SET - 3rd Edition 💕 words can’t describe the love and care in this room. Beyond honored to continue on this journey with the greats @naeemahlafond your mind!!!!! Time and time again Black women are going to fill in the gaps of inequity and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT 💅🏾 @textureonset is a testimony to actionable education and making safer spaces for textured hair in the industry and beyond! A lot of brands still hire folks who don’t know how to do our hair (in the big year of 2026…) as someone who is still recovering from heat damage because of a lack of skillset on set, being able to come to @textureonset and not have to worry about damage or harm from sitting in the chair is a such a relief. I actually mentioned this to @hairbysusy @africancreature and she and @oluwatoyinoludiran_ immediately pivoted, reassured me and came up with a killer way to execute this hairstyle 😩🫂 This is an event that goes beyond one day, it empowers folks with the knowledge to care for any type of person that they work with and I’m happy to see Black beauty, excellence, and problem-solving for such a deep rooted issue all in one room. Digital diary from my return to Guyana 🇬🇾 haven’t been back in the motherland for over 20 years and this trip was beyond healing + a necessary reconnection to my roots & what makes me meee❣️ your memories can be so deceiving and when you’re a kid everything feels so much bigger. But I remember my awara, eating sugar cane in our backyard, and playing with my cousins. To see how everyone has grown up is so spoooooky but this trip was the biggest blessing of 2026 thus far and I can’t wait to make regular returns to grandma’s house 🙂‍↕️ I missed my aunties, uncles and cousins more than I even realized 🤍
