QUIETUS | 4-perf Anamorphic 500T 35mm “We delineated different memories by just changing exposure and printing up or down in the grade. Typically 1 stop over to get a nice dense negative for present day, and up to 2 under for a grainier, less saturated image for the past. Shooting on 35mm made these different looks simple to pull off, and I had confidence that we wouldn’t lose any detail at either end. We shot everything from day interior to night exterior, working with a small crew, over two days. 35mm can do anything - don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!” Cinematographer Dan Debrey This short is part of our ongoing series featuring the @americanfilminstitute Cinematography 2025 Visual Essays.
