There was an old saying: “It’s a paradise if you can handle it”
Through my husband, a native to the island and one of a few foreigners Mallorquins accept as one, I’ve got to spend a lot of time on the island, learn the Mallorquins' way of being, experience the paradise, and see what it can do to a human.
I swam in magical water, walked on the mythical landscape, and watched the golden sunsets so beautiful like no other place in the world. I met the Malloquin women who welcomed me into their homes, and their lands and showed me everything I needed to know about the island so generously. I also saw and met people who came and claimed the place as home but never acknowledged the people or the spirit. They only came to indulge, colonize, and capitalize the paradise.
This contribution is a love letter from me along with others to the island and the people who chose to do otherwise and keep nourishing the island through their crafts, passion and integrity.

Our best friends turned 40 and we were there 🤍
From hospital bedside to dance floor. Saint Sebastian to Bangkok. Paella to Piñata, with curry in between. To another 40 years of laugh, love and stick together through thick and thin.
