Can’t believe it’s already been over a week since this magical moment in Times Square!
It's mad to witness something that began as an intimate investigation of the tactile body take over such a vast, visually intense space. I was taken aback how the hype and speed of the place slowed for the last 3 mins for the day. A small pocket of stillness in the rush of the big city.
Bod is a film about experiencing the body as a shifting, sensory landscape. It moves away from a fixed or anatomical understanding of the body and instead explores it as something soft, unstable, and constantly in flux. It searches for the connections between internal environments and external spaces. Finding links, the repeated patterns. Homology.
There are so many people involved in this quiet film. Of course: the genius
@isabelamelia.garrett is the director and collaborator; we are lucky that we have this shared visual language which makes collaboration a joyful experience. Isabel creates incredible beautiful and complex worlds and she has the knowledge and experience to translate the imagery we imagine into something tangible on screen.
Making anything is always about connections. We made the film at the wonderful
@sarabandefoundation a place that actively encourages cross disciplinary collaboration. Massive thankyou also to
@xeniacreativeretreat for the support.
The one-off performance on 13th March was choreographed and performed by the exceptional
@lenaengelstein who also brought on board the wonderful Lisa
@ifdanceproblems and Miguel
@love.entirely . They all embodied the characters so beautifully and sensitively. Thank you.
Big thanks to
@djbradfield for curating this surreal film and thank you to
