Last 24 April in Bruxelles, I had the pleasure of presenting the home I built for emerging & experimental musicians @reptilian.business.records 🐊 Thanks to the @gimic.radio team for hosting me and for having creating such a nice expression space. I challenged myself to play only tracks we released, and it was fun!! So much quality, and eclecticism, yet making sense all together into my reptilian vision of psycho-organic electronic music. Proud of the works of the artists we curated, having a label is tough but definitely worth it. Depuis la sortie de son premier album Itzamna en 2018 sur le label berlinois Urban Cosmonaut Radio, il s’est imposé comme une figure active de la scène électronique psychédélique et tribale, entre l’Europe et l’Amérique Latine. Producteur prolifique (+140 titres), Da Iguana nourrit sa musique de voyages,scènes underground et rencontres. Hello 2026, bye-bye 2025. A year of changes and experimentation. Less gigs, less releases, but more than ever reality, music and people. Here some key facts of my 2025 : - I spent a year in Bordeaux, living on this creative houseboat @studio.bato , filling me with warmth during times of doubt. - I discovered a new profession : working with children!! - I created my first live set ever, and played it successfully on several occasions in France, Italy and Germany (and my own Holy Grail aka Fusion Festival). This dynamic and half improvised live set is still and always evolving, so invite me if you want a unique piece of music at your events! - I started to build wooden furniture, and what a great feeling to craft something tangible, where music is just ungraspable airwaves. - We moved from that sweet boat in Bordeaux to Moëlan in Bretagne, where the ocean meets the rocks, cliffs and forests. I feel I’m in the right place, far from time and peer pressure, away from the consumerist hurry & never-ending urban vortex. I am breathing again!! Already composed 2 albums hehehe. Beautiful things are building up slowly… and it feels great to take the time. - I realized Da Iguana is at a turning point : with streaming metrics higher than ever (millions!), and big references from Fusion to Ozora, I still struggle to find spots where to play, and I feel disconnected from local french scenes. The Downtempo niche from where I started is now saturated and exhausted, the Global Bass and “Tropical” scene doesn’t make much sense anymore, when the whole industry have switched to include Afro, Latin and Asian cultures in global pop and electronic music (for the better!). Am I still relevant? Fusion 2025 here I come! My favorite and legendary quest to play at the mother-of-all-best-festivals will be achieved Wednesday from 17 to 18.30 on the Velvet Soup stage, under the trees of the Bachstelzen area. So hyped to join the opening line up after @temperiniii and before @andi.andean & @athenais.music ❤️🌶️🦎 I will reach another challenging dream of mine : playing my liveset. I am glad to enter my thirties with a gift to myself and to you : a 4 tracks EP called (RKT) Reptil Kumbia Trance, out on my label @reptilian.business.records These pieces are deeply influenced by my latest explorations of organic dub, trance inducing music and afro-latin rhythms, marking a new milestone in my personal quest of blurring the frontiers between genres and cultures. It’s also an EP which for me celebrates the music wisdom I absorbed these last 7 years. Spending these past months on a boat, co-living, building, making art with creative friends like @radiobato and my dear love @sagara.oce is a great social experiment, and also helped me to see more clearly which personal future I want to aim at, regarding music, family, and Life in general. I feel so grateful to have reached so many goals, thanks to the people that believe in me, my bucket list has never been so small. Small report of one of the densest weekend of my life. 3 days, 3 cities, 2 countries! Not really proud of my carbon imprint but each gig was badass and worth it 👌🏻 After a delicious creative week vacation at @tutti_frupsy_ HQ, I started the weekend in Bruxelles 🇧🇪 playing for @goulashdisko_ at @illegaalbelgium thank you again @rafaelaragondj for putting so much efforts, dance floor was filled with insane vibes and infinite smiles on crazy good global club music!! Then off to Liège for a special Tutti Frupsy at emblematic @kulturaliege ❤️ so proud of the gang! And after a (too) quick rest, I took a flight straight to my dear @beateuwe_official for my 2nd « Beate Barfuss » as a DJ. Last one was before covid, it brought back beautiful memories, and I had so much pleasure to have a 3hrs set and a super sweaty, whistling and screaming dancefloor 🙏 thank you @something_slow for the invite!
