"In the eyes of a conservative society, the liberation of self-expression is seen as something diabolical and aberrant. Rave culture emerged as an inversion of this logic, a collective search for liberating and safe spaces where the normal boundaries of conventional life, intimacy and bodies could be free to experiment, unbound from the constraints of normally imposed conventions. As these spaces intersect with contemporary internet culture they take root within a digital imaginary which disperses across new terrains and enters into our screens." A glimpse of our time at IMMENSIVA XR residency 𝜗ৎ I had the pleasure to develop together with @natalianonatalia a project called "why does my body keep rooting?" This is a multi-user XR experience where each user inhabits a hybrid with plant avatar navigating the contradictions between finding connection by staying quiet in one place and having the freedom to stay in movement. Two pieces from my project “One of my many skins”produced thanks to the support of @atriskartists These were inspired by readings and conversations about Santeria and its imaginaries, and the immense queerness of deities like Oya. So much beauty to be part of W*IP at @hyperhouse.art ♡ °・ 🎀The exhibition is open until October 20th🎀 W*IP is an exhibition that speaks of the importance of processes as opposed to results, an exaltation of collective learning that does not focus on the final product. In a technological context, women, non-binary people, trans people, digital artists use the Internet as a fascial system where their work spaces, connected rooms of one’s own, are related in rhizomatic networks of support, support and resistance following models similar to those generated in the 90s. The presumed feminine technophobia has been overcome, we are emancipated and from this position, we will create. W*IP is a group exhibition curated by Pau Jiménez @urticae_ 🫶🏻 with works by Ada Sokół, Clara Harguindey, Harriet Davey, Laura Tabares, Lola Zoido, Mayte Gómez, Natalia Stuyk, Sarah Mayer, cymoonv and Vitória Cribb, which shows live the slow course of digital production. It vindicates patience and mediocrity, allowing to expose attempts, researches and pieces developed live as a result of these links. Musa𓆩ᥫ᭡𓆪 is the scientific name for banana trees. And a muse here is not seen as a (re)source for inspiration but an erotic force. When creating this piece, I was moved to explore the concept of ecos3xuality. What caught me was its understanding of nature not as the archetypal mother, the provider and nurturer, but instead as our lover. 𝘌𝘭 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘰 (𝘊𝘢𝘴𝘪 𝘯𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘢 𝘢𝘲𝘶𝘪 𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘦) / 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘵 (𝘐𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘥𝘢𝘸𝘯𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦) La primera pieza de una serie inspirada en un Patakí de la Santería afrocubana y que explora momentos de intimidad y vulnerabilidad que a menudo se escapan de las representaciones tradicionales, atravesados por una búsqueda simbólica de lo queer en el imaginario yoruba y otras cuestiones identitarias actuales. Los patakíes son historias cortas o parábolas que a menudo representan situaciones y sus consecuencias y que transmiten enseñanzas y conocimientos que tienen un alto valor en la construcción de las normas morales y los comportamientos de sus practicantes.  Patakí donde Oyá salva a Shangó: Viéndose rodeado por sus enemigos, Shangó huyó hacia el lugar donde vivía Oyá. En ese paraje nadie sabía que era esposa de Shangó, así que el orisha le pidió que lo ocultara   –¿Por qué te falta el coraje para pelear? –le preguntó Oyá.  A lo que Shangó respondió que no le faltaba el coraje, sino que estaba cansado y que si pudiera escapar de ese cerco, recobraría las fuerzas y los deseos de vencer. Oyá pensó por unos instantes y luego le dijo: –Cuando caiga la noche te pondrás uno de mis vestidos y te daré mis trenzas.  Se cortó las trenzas y se las dio a Shangó que no sabía qué hacer con ellas. Oyá se las colocó hábilmente en la cabeza. Luego le ayudó a vestirse de mujer. Momentos más tarde Shangó, imitando a Oyá, salió de la casa, cruzó cerca del enemigo y saludó moviendo la cabeza, pero sin decir palabra, porque su voz era muy fuerte. Se alejó de allí y logró descansar. Encontró su caballo y se lanzó al ataque, más bravo que nunca vestido aún como mujer y con las trenzas de Oyá. Esta salió de la casa sin trenzas y armada, decidida a ayudar a su marido. El enemigo fue vencido. Desde entonces Oyá fue la inseparable de Shangó en todas las guerras.
