We’ve been on a wild ride with Ed Sheeran’s single Azizam, the first track that introduced his brand new album Play.
When his team called us about this, we knew we had something special on our hands. The concept centers around a bright pink heart that follows Ed around the world, and we captured that journey in just two whirlwind weekends.
It kicked off in New Orleans, walking through the French Quarter with a jazz band as crowds stretched down the block. From there, we flew to Boston for a surprise St. Patrick’s Day drop-in at The Dubliner. Next stop was Nashville, where we gathered some of the most talented musicians walking the planet for a jam session that spilled out onto Broadway and into the iconic Bluebird Café.
Then it was off to LA, cruising down the 101 in a vintage pink car with Ed and Azizam producer Ilya (who’s Persian, and whose influence is woven beautifully into the track). We ended up at a local Persian restaurant called Azizam, yes, same name, and filmed a few unforgettable moments there.
We picked it all back up in NYC with Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge Park, yellow cabs, side streets, constantly on the move.
Pulling this off in such a tight timeline took a massive amount of planning, trust, and a little chaos. But the result is something we’re incredibly proud of, content that helps mark the beginning of Ed’s next chapter.
Grateful to Ed, Liam Pethick, and his team for always bringing us along for the ride.
As expected, Azizam made a huge impact, snagging the top spot on two U.K. rankings: the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads charts. The wins give Sheeran his fifteenth No. 1 on the download-only tally and his third on the overall sales list.
