Introducing Petal Promenade by Cuff Studio, a California-based, female-led design studio. Inspired by their Manhattan Flower District showroom, the collection reflects a thoughtful dialogue between the classicism of 20th-century decorative arts and a modern point of view. Referencing Paul Poiret, Pierre Chareau, and Ellsworth Kelly, each piece is brought to life in iconic Scalamandré fabrics—an expressive interplay of form, color, and pattern infused with the energy of New York City.

Fall into the Block Daybed by Cuff Studio. This sculptural piece balances luxury and practicality, invites quiet rest or lingering conversation. Its softened geometry is paired with two relaxed loose cushions — a versatile piece suited to a dressing room, den, living room or library.
The base is offered in all oak finishes, natural walnut, lacquer and as shown in a true favorite — mappa burl. Our Half Dome in a beautiful bedroom featured in @archdigest by Redmond Aldrich Design. Handmade and hand-wrapped in rope, no two are exactly the same. Hugging the ceiling or wall, the Half Dome emits a soft, textural glow — bringing warmth and quiet dimension to any design scheme and room.
Part of our Expedited Collection, the Half Dome is available in Small and Large, in natural white or jute cotton rope, with a 5–7 week lead time.

Cuff Studio showcases the enduring beauty of lacquer at NYCxDESIGN 2026.
DESIGN INFLUENCE: LACQUER. In 2025 Cuff Studio re-introduced the Fold Screen in ebony piano lacquer - this luminous combination inspired novel and iterative silhouettes that Cuff Studio will debut at ICFF.
Lacquer draws on centuries of craftsmanship and aesthetic. With origins of pre 17th century in East Asian Lacquerware, early examples include bowls and vessels. Lacquer created an unparalleled level of depth, reflectivity and sheen — far beyond what paints could achieve. A polished, deep lacquered surface conveying quiet elegance and contemplation. When Asian lacquerware arrived in Europe, it quickly became associated with high-end furniture, decorative arts and architectural elements in aristocratic homes. Lacquer symbolized taste.
Designer Eileen Gray had full mastery and understanding of lacquer. Her use of the complex medium was the result of much research and practice over the course of several years. She is one of few European artists from her generation to successfully master Japanese lacquer techniques and to grasp it with such artistic virtuosity.
In the early to mid 20th century, for designers including Paul Poiret, lacquer became a shorthand in Art Deco and Streamline Moderne, emphasizing clean lines and sophistication. In Mid-Century and Minimalism, lacquer served as a powerful accent.
We highlight contemporary designers including Valerie Name Bolaño for their bold yet restrained layering of lacquer in recent interiors projects.
