10,000, the first solo exhibition on CryptoPunks on view @nodefoundation is drawing thousands of visitors each weekend.
Created by Matt Hall and John Watkinson (Larva Labs) in 2017, CryptoPunks is among the most influential works of digital art ever produced; it introduced a new paradigm for authorship and ownership online, inspired by the Ethereum blockchain standard, and marked a cultural shift in how identity, provenance, and value can exist in purely digital form.
10,000 presents CryptoPunks as a living artwork: a self-running system whose marketplace is foregrounded as an integral part of the art – every offer, bid, sale, and transfer is both an economic event and an aesthetic one.
We recognize the CryptoPunks community as a part of the artwork itself.

CryptoPunks, welcome to the @themuseumofmodernart collection!
Punk 4018, Punk 2786, Punk 5616, Punk 5160, Punk 3407, Punk 7178, Punk 74, and Punk 7899 have found a permanent home at MoMA, where they’ll be preserved and cared for as part of the museum’s history.
The collective generosity behind this gift highlights the strength and spirit of the Punk’s community whom has carried the project forward.
This historic donation was made possible by Eric and Mara Calderon, Cozomo de' Medici, JudithESSS, Nick Tomaino, Ryan Zurrer, and Rhyd0n. Larva Labs also contributed Punks from their personal collection as part of their long-term commitment to the work.
We’re proud to see that shared stewardship reflected at MoMA.
With thanks to @1of1__art for helping shepherd this acquisition forward.
