New animated video for my latest song. The idea started as a way to loop some short animations and videos I had made and display them in an interesting way (on TVs!) I started adding parts of my face, eyes etc. and the meaning of the song (about how we change, how we’re not the same person over time etc.) and the separated parts of my face were suddenly part of the same theme. I spent a lot of time up late animating and rendering these little scenes ... I hope you dig the video! ❤️

...A longtime member of the Grammy-nominated, ARIA winning, beloved indie band, Cut Copy, Ben Browning is a producer and multi-instrumentalist originally hailing from Melbourne, Australia who now resides in San Francisco. Following the release of his first single since 2018 Ben Browning has directed a video for his latest effort, “I Concede.” Whimsically reminiscent of early music television performances, it is interspersed with colorful animations and video effects also created by Browning himself.
Cut Copy on Indie Sleaze, the influence of Daft Punk & The Strokes, The Simpsons and playing Golden Plains.
New episode of Alt. Down Under with Ben Browning, bassist for Cut Copy is out now 🧡⚡️
From recording “Take Me Over” in a cold Melbourne warehouse to watching generations of fans discover the band, this one’s a proper trip through the 2000s and into now.
We also chat Golden Plains Festival and what makes that site so special, ahead of a return to the ‘sup in early March!
Also… a review of the Melbourne scene this week, after we headed to Drive Live, run by PBS 106.7FM, catching Brown Spirits, Bumpy, and lining up Owelu Dreamhouse & Gut Health. Great to see community radio alive and well in Australia, and giving artists and fans a platform to connect!
Full episode in bio.
Super proud of me and the boys but especially @dancutcopy for all the work that went into our latest album ‘moments’. Gathering in Byron last year was an incredible experience. Getting to work with @haimamarriott again whom I recorded with over twenty years ago was sick. We made things together and also separately in Melbourne, New York and San Francisco. We’ve been raising kids and giving birth to Art as well. High fives. Thanks @5hags for recording @keetiebee too. Thanks to my parents for making me. Thanks to Parwana and Elias for letting me play as an adult. (I really care about music as a form of healing and we need a lot of that …🍉)hope you can hear some of the magic of music and sound in this record.
Came across a folder of old art and photos from back when I had seemingly endless time to mess around (2018-2020) Back then I enjoyed nature, taking photos of myself and making 3D images on a computer utilizing the cubes and spheres shapes. Buckle up its archives time.
With apologies to @elviscostello , and robertwyatt… it felt appropriate to share my little rendition of this great antiwar song in this moment. We should speak out against war in all forms, especially bombing of civilians. The lyrics of this song were written in response to Britain’s war in the Falklands in 1982.
Spent the afternoon recording a version of Emitt Rhode’s ‘Somebody Made For Me’. This sort of thing is so fun to do. It’s a simple song but has some cool chords in it. McCartney’s best song he didn’t write! Also thanks to @healing_potpourri for the inspiration!
Played some tennis yesterday. Still figuring out how to serve lol 😩 last photos and vid from weekend @sterngrovefestival with @poolside . Magical spot.
