@cpp_science Professor Janel Ortiz turned her fascination with local wildlife into hands-on opportunities for students through Women in the Wild.
The fully funded program gives students real field experience in natural resources, agriculture and wildlife, building confidence, and taking weeklong trips to experience hands on research.

@cpp_science Professor Rachel Blakely is turning her curiosity into discovery at CPP. 🦇🔍
What began as an opportunity to study bats in Australia has evolved into leading hands-on research with students through the Bat Advocacy and Tracking Society (@b.a.t.s_cpp ).
Blakely also hosted CPP Bat Night, where guests had the opportunity to study live bats from the @labatrescue , take a bat walk with echolocation detectors, and help build bat boxes.
Later this semester, students will set up detectors at @lylecenter to capture videos and record the calls of bats and nearby predators.
