Quite a story behind my
@gellihaha remix, which is out now, courtesy of
@innovativeleisure &
@vinylmeplease . There’s a lot to read, so buckle up, and turn off your ADHD.
In Nov of 2024 I sat down to work on a Gelli remix and all the patches on my synth were gone and set to the basic, no frills, sound.
@turbotito had borrowed it on behalf of
@mattiesafer for a
@itslovetempo show, and had backed up my settings. I sent him this exact video (in slide 3) of me scrolling through “init program” after “init program” after “init program” in a mini panic. You can read the texts in the following slides.
Moments after, I realized the basic Korg patch was pretty much the Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone sound….so I ran it through some reverb, and there was no going back.
It was becoming a big sounding chune, and it needed guitars on it a la Ray of Light, so I phoned up
@rooseyaghmai . Amir delivered.
I knew I couldn’t mix it as mega as it needed on my own, so I hired
@jex.opolis to give it some heft. After annoying him with many notes and several rounds of revisions, it was done. (For the record, he’s a pro and didn’t need the notes).
In January 2025, I gave the Bounce House remix its first test spin at
@sundaysundaymx . It worked, so I sent it off to Gelli, Sean
@deluxband , and IL.
It’s a year later now, and it got added to a vinyl-only release of Gelli’s album courtesy of the Vinyl Me Please team, and a Christmas-time delivery courtesy of
@dirty_dave — and here it is! Sounds great too.
In the time since I started the remix, Gelli Haha has earned much-deserved attention and has been selling out shows, and blowing everyone’s hair back. I’m so stoked to be involved in some small way. Thank you Angel and Sean for trusting me with your tune 🙏
Moral of the story, let friends mess up your equipment, it’s more fun than AI.
