For the last few years, we’ve been quietly sending recommended records to a handful of friends around the country each month. It started as a way to keep the lights on during the pandemic, but it has become one of our favorite ways to stay connected to people who support our shop near and far. We’re opening it up a bit and calling it our Selector Service. You can try it monthly, or in 3- or 6-month runs. It’s a small, personal thing, so spots are limited. More info on our site. 🌊🌊🌊

On Thursday, May 21 we’re excited to host our friend Tommaso Cappellato (@tommasocappellato ) at the shop! Tommaso is an Italian drummer, composer, producer, DJ, and founder of the label Domanda Music (@domandamusic ), working across contemporary jazz, electronic, and experimental music. Through projects such as Collettivo Immaginario, Explorare, Calycosa, and his solo drums-and-electronics performances, he has developed a distinctive artistic language bridging spiritual jazz, deep electronics, improvisation, and rhythm-driven sound exploration. Over the years he has collaborated with a wide range of internationally acclaimed artists including Debbie Harry, Don Byron, Gilles Peterson, Donato Dozzy, Nicola Conte, Maurice Louca, Kaidi Tatham, Shabaka Hutchings, Dwight Trible, Enrico Rava, Enrico Pieranunzi, Michael Blake, Shahzad Ismaily, DJ Khalab, Groove Collective, The Jazz Passengers, Alan Bishop, Nia Andrews, Senyawa, Tiombe Lockhart, Fabrizio Bosso, George Cables, Steve Grossman, and Upperground Orchestra. For this special session at Offshore Sounds (@offshore.sounds ), Tommaso will present selections from the Domanda Music catalog and beyond through an all-vinyl DJ set exploring cosmic jazz, spiritual grooves, leftfield electronics, and eclectic dancefloor sounds. 5-8pm 109 Locust st. Back at it on Friday with local legend @nateswetgoods who will be playing tunes from his west coast collection and recent pickups he’s unearthed at our shop, broadcast as usual on @jettyradio ! Come early for hoagies by @pastramimami.sc 4-5pm 🍽️

Mark your calendars! Private Press is hosting Sun Tripping Fest on May 16th. In collaboration with @offshore.sounds and @rotations831 , we are closing the street to host a dozen record vendors, DJs, local food pop-ups, and live music from @fullcourtpress.band . This annual celebration of music, beer, food, and community also marks six years of Private Press and the one-year anniversary of our tasting room. We look forward to celebrating with you!

Spring called, we answered 📞🌸. Saturday, May 9 from 3–9pm, we’re back at Davenport Roadhouse, taking over the newly redone beer garden for a proper debut.
