Mr. Keith “JD Twitch” McIvor, I’m not sure you will see this in the current tidal wave of love you are receiving, but you have left a lasting mark on my LA-based friend group. I am an @optimoespacio student. Your “it’s all music” and “share everything / gate-keep nothing” DJ ethics are core principles I have integrated into my approach to the craft. When Optimo played your town, you talked about it with your friends. Other than your partner JG Wilkes, there may never be another DJ who can make sense out of playing DJ Deeon, Gregory Isaacs, Slayer, Madonna, Basic Channel, Mekons, and Ram Jam, and have it all come out feeling like punk. @cosmicdan had a birthday on Saturday. Even though it’s hard to see him in the video, this is from our joint birthday party June 19, 2010 at the Well in LA. I think it’s one of my favorite birthday celebrations. This moment was 5am on June 20th. Wish Dan a belated birthday if you haven’t yet!
