The Mask of Light Collaboration celebrates 25 years since Bionicle debuted and took LEGO’s building toys in a bold new direction filled with strange new elements and even weirder and more wonderful lore. For this final installment of this super-sized collab, we present the biggest Bionicles of the bunch: the Titans. When this line debuted in 2003, the figures were too big to fit in a canisters so they had to be sold in boxes and some even required combing multiple sets to assemble. Epic! But not half as epic as these reimagined models from the following incredible builders: @tolerantaxe_97 @alex_mocs @ballomnomnom @woomy_world @ben.cossy @cornbuilder #bionicle #bionicle25

Construction Crab While not made for a magazine, this Alt-Build of set 42163 Technic Heavy-Duty Bulldozer, was built during the Technic Building Challenge at Bricks Cascade 2025! I competed against an army of other amazing builders, such as @margits_mocs and @cornbuilder ! All while being egged on by the teasing and taunting of @aiden.builds ! But ultimately only one builder can win such a prestigious event and that was none other than @ziontyro ! It was a my first official game I’ve ever played at a lego convention, and I was happy to call it a good, fun, successful experience! Especially since I walked out of there with an adorable little crab that got the honor of being on display at the technic table for the rest of the convention, as well as being the happiest pencil holder and phone charging stand on my desk for the last few months! While Bricks Cascade was some time ago, I thought it fitting share this little moc now during the month of #timeforcrab !!

Ahvaytum build process and exhibitions Building this model had a huge learning curve. Learning how to build digitally was a big part of the process, and it brought a lot of challenges. Much of this models development consisted of cross-referencing artwork and anatomical models of Ahvaytum and Eoraptor, primarily using the works of paleoartist Gabriel Ugueto and paleobiologist Scott Hartman as inspiration. I also studied many stable building techniques for features like the legs and neck. Sets like the UCS AT-AT and other walkers/mechs came in handy. A lot of the techniques I originally used in the digital model had to be scrapped and redesigned once I had a first physical draft put together. This meant that the final model wouldn’t be able to hold the poses shown in the renders. But after building a quick stand, it ultimately turned out just right. After getting all of those lovely (and far less common) olive green pieces ready, the final model was constructed and photographed. Once that was wrapped up, it was time for the real work to begin. Upon completion, the plan was for the model to be used as an education/outreach tool, while also serving as a museum exhibit for the new taxon. The model carries with it a number of “firsts” as well. It is not only the first physical reconstruction of this animal, but also (to my knowledge) the first ever model of a newly discovered taxon using LEGO as a medium. Since its completion, it has been shown at various science communication exhibitions, including museum events, an art showcase, a research symposium, and even an Eastern Shoshone annual powwow in Wyoming. This model has represented many firsts for me as an artist and an aspiring paleontologist. To me, this build marks the start of a completely new journey in this field. Thank you all, and I can’t wait for you all to see what comes next! #lego #art #paleoart #moc #scicomm

Build number 13: The (very) Unofficial LEGO Moo-Deng 🐷 Okay, I swear this isn’t an official LEGO set — but every single piece used is 100% legit. No knockoffs here, only pure, certified, brick-built goodness. Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way… If you ask anyone who’s known me, they’ll tell you I’m not exactly the balloons and rose petals type. I don’t do the whole “cheesy romantic gesture” thing. (Refer to my ring box post for full proof of how utterly lost I am when it comes to doing things the conventional partner way.) This creation came into being during the height of the Moo-Deng craze. For the uninitiated: Moo-Deng is a pygmy hippopotamus living in the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Si Racha, Thailand. She became an internet legend at the tender age of two months after her adorable photos went viral in September 2024. Her name — selected by a public poll with 20,000 votes — literally means bouncy pork. Yes. Bouncy. Pork. And yes, the internet fell in love. My wife? She went absolutely feral for this bouncy pig. For a good few months, it was Moo-Deng morning, noon, and night. Unfortunately, flying to Thailand wasn’t an option (we were still financially recovering from a soul-cleansing, wallet-draining Japan trip). And as much as I’d love to gift her a real-life pygmy hippo, customs would probably have an issue with it. So, I did the next best thing: I built her one. Massive shoutout to @cornbuilder for the brilliant instructions and to the legends at @lego.bangalorebricks for sourcing the parts — some of which were apparently rarer than a reasonable rent agreement in Bangalore. Ladies and gents, I present to you: The LEGO Moo-Deng — probably the most absurdly specific gift I’ve ever made. And somehow… one of the most appreciated. #LEGO #AFOL #MooDeng #LEGOCustomBuild #PygmyHippoInBricks #BouncyPork #SiRachaStar #LEGOMemeBuild #BizarreButBeautiful #ThailandZooFame #MooMood #LEGOForLove #NotCheesyISwear #BrickBuiltAbsurdity #cornbuilder #legoindia #legohaul #marriedlifeinbricks
