Last week I was extremely fortunate to be back in Portland at another wonderful Bricks Cascade. This is my favorite show every year, and Portland was gorgeous for it. I've started bringing just a small sample for events these days, but I think it has allowed for a much sharper experience.
Bird is still a WIP but it has been fun to show at two shows now lol. I'll get around to finishing it and showcasing it eventually!

My goal in nabbing him for the collab was to create a display with both versions of him to display together at conventions. I tried to maintain some visual cohesion between the two builds both as a nod to the original sets, and to make it appear as if this is simply my Kopaka build wearing different armour, but still unmistakably fitting the Kopaka attitude and vibe. I accidentally discovered the way the chima fur add-on slits almost perfectly into that bohrok kal shield and knew it had to be part of the visual center of the build. I also knew I had to go for some asymmetric armour on this one. It just felt right.
I finished this build in May of 2025, and even then I felt like I was running behind the collab. Turns out that was wrong lol. Ah well. Looking forward to hopefully a more productive 2026, hopefully a big new post with a big new model coming in the next couple of weeks!

The lion pictured here is from 2013, and one of the main (mane) reasons I wanted to do Leo for the Zodiac Collab. I've never been super happy with this MOC, and it felt very stuck in flux between what a "bionicle moc" meant for so long and where "bionicle moc" was going. Doing a new lion has been in the back of my mind for so so so many years now, and so when I nabbed Leo I knew that this older one's black coat was my starting point. Some work in progress shots on the black dog build. The entire build was about three afternoons, though I spent about a month just thinking about it nearly non-stop. The crows almost didn't make the moc as I couldn't find the parts I wanted for what I had in my head, but luckily The Artistic Vision ™️ prevailed, I think they pull the entire thing together, especially the crow that is circling before it lands to join the others.
