Debris Facility recently wrote on Rosie Isaac’s 𝘉𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘵𝘶𝘣 𝘈𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺, a performance lecture expanding on the story that informs her installation works 𝘛𝘪𝘱 𝘛𝘦𝘴𝘵 and 𝘛𝘰𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘚𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘴, a story of altered plant growth, landfill chemistry and quarrying at the Darebin Parklands and across Naarm (Melbourne). With 𝙈𝙚𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙘 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙙, Debris refracts Rosie’s work through its different iterations and mutations. Aggregating notes, memories, and spirals of Rosie’s text to sift through and filter these materials into something else, re-purposed waste a/effects. @debris.facility Read on Offsite via the link in our bio 🔗 This series of works by Rosie Isaac were first presented as part of 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 at West Space, then later at Conduction, an artist run space in Footscray. Form Follows Ornament- Clem Edwards In Form Follows Ornament, Clem Edwards will recount how they fell for a beautiful hinge on the threshold of a castle. Since then, they remain in hardware’s thrall. In a long swoon from Conduction, they will riff on ornament as order’s deviant ancestor and on the delights of understanding ornament above form, among other things. flip book screen burn Megan Tan with Leon Rice-Whetton, Craig Neeson and Angelica Chan Opening Thursday 7th August 6-8pm Megan Tan shares a series of artworks in ‘flip book screen burn’ which use e-readers as an experimental and lossy format for images and video. Featuring contributions from Leon Rice-Whetton, Craig Neeson and Angelica Chan In low-fidelity fashion, refreshing image frames, turning pages or scrolling down a window can cause flickering and leave screen burn on subsequent frames. This screen burning is commonly referred to as “ghosting” by device users and developers. In most use cases, e-paper is implemented for recreational reading and writing, remedying the hyperactivity and attention attrition associated with LCD screens by eliminating or neutralising addiction-inducing stimuli.  This program is a technical demo of available e-paper display modules (most of which are produced by E-ink Corporation) and a model for pushing the technology beyond the manufacturer’s intention. Opening Thursday 7th August, 6-8pm. Free, and all welcome. Light refreshments available.  Exhibition concludes Thursday 14th August  Conduction = 251 Barkly Street Footscray @ergonomic_cheeseboard @tediously.tediously.tediously @craigneeson Access:  There is a 9cm step into the venue. Further Workshop Info: You are invited to participate in an instrument-building and sounding workshop called Wind Throb, which will culminate in a collectively devised performance at Conduction. We will work with breath-based techniques, drawing, writing-scoring, simple beeswax casting, clay hand-building, and contact and hydro microphones. Ben will introduce notions of body schema, resonant bodies (via Lygia Clark and Suely Rolnik), and active and reactive forces, in order to assist in collectively organising an approach to a public performance event one week following the workshop. All instruments will be the participant’s own (clay ocarinas will go through a kiln firing between part A and B of the workshop).
 Outcomes for participants:
Fired ceramic ocarina, beeswax flute, group-devised free public performance facilitated by Benjamin Woods, drawings, writing, performance documentation (audio, video, images).  Access: Workshop participants will be asked about their access needs, and we will do our best to accommodate. WINDOW: Debris Facility Pty Ltd - FalseWork, 2022. Laminated collage, from “Octopus 22: Baroquetopus (Humanimal entanglements and tentacular spectaculars)” Curated by Tessa Laird, shown at Gertrude Contemporary On display in the window is a display of an assemblage of laminated collages made by our Conductor @debris.facility between 2020-2022. 8 large panels cover the entire window surface and will be changed over, added to and edited over the course of the month. “False Work” is the term given to temporary scaffolding while bridges are being constructed, and this installation re-enacts the anarchive of Debris Facility for their Decayed Decade. The shopfront window leaks, so waterproof artworks are useful. Moving studio generates editing of material, which is useful. We’ll be working through the dis/function of these works as curtains for Conduction. Evasion and transparency. FalseWork is available to purchase, in whole or in part as part of our fundraising to keep Conduction conducive. Enquire via DM/ email @debris.facility @gertrudecontemporary Access: FalseWork is available to view through the window and security grille 24/7 at 251 Barkly street Footscray. Haptic and touch of the work is available and encouraged during opening hours
