★ ★ ★ BOYFRIEND DICK ★ ★ ★ Boyfriend Dick (@calebkruzel ) is a queer artist, DJ, and meme connoisseur living between NYC, LA, and Detroit, and the winner of this year’s Community Bread X Fourth World contest. With his unique blend of creativity, humor, and musical prowess, people might be familiar with his internet persona, but unaware of how fierce of a DJ he is. Boyfriend Dick is a multifaceted artist who effortlessly captivates audiences with his fast-paced, frenetic strand of techno, hard groove imbued with a distinct historical undercurrent of Detroit sounds. In their word words, cunty AF, aka so up Community Bread’s alley. We’ll be putting him on at the prime slot of 5 am to really showcase this demon behind the decks. @community.bread is so proud to welcome him into the CB fam and champion this burgeoning, talented artist. Ok BBs, you asked for it, here are more deets for upcoming @community.bread x @fourthworldnyc contest. Any artist can submit but our focus will be choosing a winner who is underrepresented (LGBTQI+ identifying and / or POC individuals) & undiscovered - This means artists that show immense talent but have not been afforded the same opportunities/access as more established artists we see regularly on lineups. - The winner will be announced on the 2nd July. Duos, collectives etc are welcome to submit as one entity. - Submissions - via 🔗 in bio - can include links to a DJ mix, live set and/ or original music productions. Video links are cool too. - All genres are welcome but pls bear in mind that Community Bread & Fourth World highlight electronic music (vocals are not excluded) So as much as we appreciate a purely acoustic guitar driven sound, it may not be suitable for this bill. - The winner will win a paid slot at the upcoming Fourth World event on the 6th of July. So be prepared to have something fierce ready for the stage in 4 days, We will promote the winner throughout our collective channels, and there may be additional editorial opportunities TBC. - The winner will be decided by Community Bread team. DM us if you have any more Qs. Pass this around. Dig through those crates & sample folders - Happy hunting hunnys. Tune in, Drop out. @community.bread 🖤

After a founder of mutual aid platform @Community.Bread passed away last year, his mother found rolls of undeveloped film, filled with glorious pictures of the city’s queer community. Arthur Kozlovski’s pictures, which were displayed in a one-off exhibition and are now being sold as prints to fundraise for future Community Bread initiatives, capture the infant days of NYC’s LGBTQ+ underground scene through the 2010s, which has since grown to fill huge capacity warehouses and nightclubs across the city each weekend these days. See more at the link in @crackmagazine ’s bio.

Thank you to everyone who showed up to Arthur’s Ever Afters or donated from afar. Collectively - from door & online donations - we raised $9,136 for @chooselove a charity org, close to Arthur’s heart. 💯of proceeds for @choooselove will go directly to supporting LGBTQIA+ Ukrainian refugees & displaced people through emergency medical care, food, shelter, clothes, legal support, mental health care amongst other critical services. So much gratitude to those who contributed their time & talents to putting together this special dance benefit for an important cause - in loving memory of our dear friend, & Community Bread founder, Arthur Kozlovski. Shout out to the brilliant DJs & artists who served fierce, moving sets & performances that warmed our hearts & bodies: @kevinavianceofficial @mikeservito @thecarrynation_nyc @jasmine_infiniti @michaelmagnan TT Xander Gaines Thank you @goodroombk for graciously hosting the event, @beatport for the generous 2K donation, @beastrees for supplying the gorgeous flowers (and Arthur’s lovely friends who pitched in for them) , @t.o.v.a.h for her tireless work on this. And of course Arthur’s wonderful family for not only sharing touching memories on the night, but also sharing this brilliant, one of a kind gem with us. Arthur has always expressed his passion to unite everyone on the dancefloor. While the positive impact he’s made will be felt for years to come, we also hope he - and all the dancers - could feel the unified love on the night. It was beaming from the dance floor. So big love to the community - whether IRL or online - who came together in the most beautiful way to give Arthur the send off he deserved. 💚

A reel we made to visually highlight Arthur’s journey as we built @community.bread 💚 Along with our mission to fundraise for LGBTQIA+ & POC artists to offset economic hardship during pandemic, + a bunch of fab charity orgs, we wanted to convey Arthur’s shared vision of a Rave Utopia, whether virtual or IRL. Whatever project we were working on, Arthur was adamant about elevating only marginalized artists on the lineup. No tokenism. No headliners. No gatekeepers. Clout & followers are irrelevant. CB booked marginalized artists on our lineup based on talent (ofc),the positive impact they’ve made in their local community, and taste which admittedly is subjective. Arthur, Angela & Paul’s taste in music run the gauntlet from fast paced cunty techno, hypnotic psytrance to old school analogue Detroit electro. We’re obvi music geeks. The common goal when we curated for one of our livestream fundraisers, a warehouse rave at @fourthworldnyc or the famed pool party at #sustainrelease is considering what dancers are yearning for during those tumultuous times. As avid dancers ourselves (first & foremost) we realized they wanted to release. Having had the dance floor taken away for so long, we wanted our dancers to release joy, release rage, get lost in swirly beats again & get weird. or just release pent up angst stomping to hard, fast techno. We would spend days taking this into consideration, & whilst we always aligned, Arthur’s clear vision of a Rave Utopia - a level playing field where everyone’s voices were equally heard - remained steadfast. 💚🕊️💚 Check out the reel for more. Drop in. Tune out 💚

It is with profound sadness & heavy hearts that we share the news of Community Bread founder, Arthur Kozlovski’s passing. Arthur was a true visionary. Not only did he dream up the concept of Community Bread, but through his unwavering passion to do good & genuine care for others, he inspired us to bring this beautiful vision to life. When the world was gripped in fear & uncertainty; when we were all separated, mostly alone, broke & scared, Arthur didn’t succumb to despair - he created thoughtful, tangible solutions. He connected us through the joy of music. He provided revenue streams for marginalized artists who lost their gigs in the pandemic. He brought together 26 LGBTQIA+ & POC centric music collectives from around the globe. From Singapore’s @eternaldragonz to Berlin’s @herrensauna.official , Arthur’s vision was to guide us through the darkest of times by uniting us on the emblematic dance-floor - virtual & IRL Arthur often didn’t get the credit he deserved. Let it be known that through his tireless & selfless work for Community Bread, we were able to fundraise nearly $140k for over 60 LGBTQIA+ & POC artists as well as charity organizations such as @glits_inc @trevorproject , @oramrefugee @twoc_collective & @chooselove Evidently, he touched the lives of many who didn’t even know him. And for those that did, he’s left a hole in our hearts that will never be filled. We will forever miss our dear friend Arthur - outrageously funny, defiantly determined, endlessly giving & fierce to the very core. We love you Arthur. Angela Fan & Paul Bui

A rising star in NYC's rave scene, @morenxx_x delivers a blistering set for @community.bread 17th mix. They also joined our roster for CB x @beatport ReConnect fundraiser benefiting Ukraine, which raised over $100,000 for @chooselove , an org providing food, shelter and other critical services for the LGBTQ+ community fleeing the war. Strap in your seatbelt and get ready for this adrenaline-fueled ride at 🔗 in bio. 🔥💚🔥 What would you like ppl to know about you? I'm also an exhibiting visual artist! Whose art practice is deeply intertwined with their DJ practice. Tell us about this mix. Whenever I put out a mix or get ready to make a mix, I organize a collection of images that help me develop its sonic aesthetic. With this mix I was more so thinking about it as an archipelago, a group of islands that amalgamate to a larger nexus of localities. The majority of the songs I selected have these entrancing percussive patterns that I gravitate to at large, but also placing emphasis on Caribbean, African and Black American producers. It was easy to find my footings as those connections seem to form organically. This mix is definitely more on the techno side, with many moments of melodic rapture. Overall , I want listeners to sojourn through a transformative journey that explores the entanglement of terror and enjoyment, ecstacy and remedy, death and transformation. A group of islands converging, collapsing and developing one another in their difference. A dancefloor of relation, with explosions of jubilance. How do you think we can make the underground clubbing community better? I would like to see more thoughtful organizing, a lot of parties post-quarantine have been so maximalist and devoid of intention. We don't need 10 DJs in one night (unless there are multiple floors), we don't need a sampler portion of a DJ set. With the recent destruction of our spaces specifically in Brooklyn, we have fewer options, there's 'scarcity' to it. But there is so much room for potential! I want to see more insurgent, spontaneous, and imaginative organizing. 📷 @samclarke_nyc

Thank you to everyone for tuning in & donating to last Sunday’s 20hr marathon of livestream for this special edition of @beatport ReConnect. Collectively we raised nearly $100,000 in aid of Ukraine from online and IRL donations across the livestreams/events from NYC, Berlin, Lisbon, Sydney!! All funds raised directly go to @chooselove , a non-profit organization providing vital aid and services to those fleeing Ukraine in the form of emergency medical care, food, shelter, clothes, mental health aid & support for the LGBTQIA+ community, amongst much more. Special thanks to everyone who turned up/tuned in and donated to the NYC’s edition of @beatport ReConnect at @publicrecordsnyc in partnership with @community.bread . And of course so much love to the DJs who conjured their skills for this important cause. You can still donate via link in bio. Here’s a snippet of Sunday’s livestream in case you missed. @mikeservito opening his set with Anne Clarke’s poignant classic ‘Our Darkness’ sent a defiant message and set the tone for the evening. @ma_sha_music did not hold back delivering a blistering set of electro & punchy breakbeat, @morenxx_x turned up the heat with his signature high-octane stand of techno, @juliagovor took us to a dark and dirty journey through brooding techno, @vcalderone took us deeper into the underground with his hypnotic set, while @community.bread own @kozlov_nyc closed out the night with a frenetic high intensity set, imbued with soul & joy. Thank you again to all the artists,, @beatport @publicrecordsnyc and of course everyone who dropped in, tuned out as we #StandWithUkraine 💙💛
