PET SEMATARY TWO (1992) - another select by @dyldaws for Movie Club… and it is… fun. As. HELL. Pulpy, quirky, with Edward Furlong, Anthony Edwards, Clancy Brown and the other kid from’Big’ chewing up the scenery. Pure 90s schlock helmed by the same director as the original. Many subtle nods to The Shining and lots of dead people deading alive people and alive people deading dead people. If you love Pet Sematary… youll absolutely kinda like Pet Sematary two… too?

EXHUMA (2024) - Korean folk horror with amazing cinematography and a haunting premise. A deep dive into the fascinating funerary tradition of geomancy and burial rites. The runtime is definitely a commitment and slightly indulgent, but a worthy addition to any Halloween horror marathon.

THEY LIVE (1988) - Roddy Piper’s over the top performance, his bat-shit one-liners, and the “PUT ON THE GLASSES” fist-fight with Keith David is all stuff of legend. Could have easily been a 50min Twilight Zone episode- but this was truly, pure 80s excess. Mid-level John Carpenter fare, but pretty goddamn fun.

LONGLEGS (2024) - effective prologue, then slow burns into esoteric garbledy-goo. So in love with its own ideas, for me, it fails to bother to tell anything relatable or engaging. Lots comparing it to ‘Silence of the Lambs’ but this one fails to lock onto what made ‘Silence’ great- relatable, nuanced characters and a grounded, compelling story. Feels like this was entirely engineered around Nicholas Cage’s meme-friendly performance.
