Outsider Sounds and Visions Fest is a two day music festival in West Oakland March 27 and 28, 2026 celebrating the twenty year anniversary of @ratskinrecords happening at First Church Of The Buzzard in West Oakland featuring over thirty five bands / performances. Malocculsion on Hutson: We couldn’t be more excited to invite special guest William Hutson, one third of experimental rap group @clppng as part of OSAV with a special tape machine performance! Both Bill and Clipping have been longtime friends and supporters of the label and our artists and our vision and we couldn’t be more honored to welcome William as part of Outsider Sounds and Visions fest. His sound and vision is always a creative force of inspiration for Ratskin! @daxpiersonmusic and I would spend hours listening to clipping and their solo / soundtrack works, dissecting and pondering the conceptual connections between projects and the percussion sources. Dax was one of the biggest Clipping fans and I wish he was here for this special performance. William Hutson is a Los Angeles–based experimental musician, composer, and sound artist best known as one-third of Clipping. His work blends musique concrète, noise, tape collage, and electroacoustic composition to create dense, cinematic soundscapes that push hip-hop into avant-garde territory. Beyond Clipping, Hutson’s solo and collaborative projects often draw on archival audio, tape manipulation, and conceptual approaches to experimental storytelling. From early Rale and Tattered Syntax were some of the first time I heard Bill’s music my first experience with @clppng was the infamous Lobot show maybe 2011? 2012? Seeing Bill’s music continue to expand through his soundtrack work solo improvisations. Something that has been on heavy rotation lately is Hutson’s solo. record on @awavepress “Six or Seven Steps to the Door: Solo Improvisations” which showcases Hutson’s precision tape machine madness. absolutely immaculate sonic journey. Joining Sled Island’s previously announced guest curator, @clppng , is English chamber folk ensemble @blackcountrynewroad , revered Canadian pop project HOMESHAKE (@pitrrsugr ), LA synth punks @sextileband , fuzzy indie rock outfit @feeblelittlehorse , outlandish egg punk group @snooper_7 , lo-fi post-punk duo @sweeping.promises , NYC-based ambient pioneer @laraaji_official , and genre-bending dream pop artist @salamirosejoelouis (signed to Flying Lotus’ record label, Brainfeeder). Also included in the first wave lineup is Nigerien desert rock band @etrandelair , a new solo project from multidisciplinary artist and Sled Island alum @thorharris (Swans, Thor & Friends, Ben Frost), acclaimed lo-fi hip-hop artist @dijahsb , indie pop singer-songwriter @emilyyacina , blackened death metal trio @suffering_hour , and Montreal slop rock group Tha Retail Simps.
