🍫 We invited the family round for Easter 🐣 They didn’t know what they were in for 🍫 This Easter, we teamed up with @climatebasecamp and @ncitimpact to taste something deliberately, horribly wrong - the Petrol Egg. Notes of pipeline, refinery and regret. Chocolate is already changing and most of us haven’t noticed - bars getting smaller, prices creeping up, flavours shifting. Extreme weather caused by climate change is devastating cacao farms around the world, cutting supply and threatening the future of the thing so many of us love most. This egg was made to taste what’s at stake. Have the easter eggs you've been unwrapping been smaller lately, more expensive, or less chocolatey? You're not alone! We've collaborated with @climatebasecamp to bring science-first facts to this conversation. Here's a few: 🍫 Easter eggs are getting smaller while prices rise, some up over 40% per 100g in one year 📈 Global cocoa prices quadrupled between 2023–2025, driven by climate impacts on harvests (not necessarily corporate greed!) 🌍 Extreme heat, drought and erratic rainfall in West Africa—where 70% of cocoa is grown—are key factors disrupting supply ⚖️ Products are being reformulated and some of them can no longer legally be called “chocolate” due to reduced cocoa content 🔁 Manufacturers are now seeking alternative fats and flavourings as supply tightens, which means there's less chocolate in your chocolate-flavoured products! ⏳ This is just the beginning: Major cocoa-growing regions could become far less able to supply the world's chocolate demand within decades if climate change continues. ok not quite the Easter Egg we had in mind??⛽️ and we’ve finally found a food Miss Marlow refuses, so i think that says it all this unfortunately is the sad reality of how climate change is affecting flavours we know and LOVE like chocolate😞😞 i think it’s super important to educate ourselves and the younger generation on not only the immediate effects of climate change, but how fossil fuel is impacting our daily lives and what we can do to change it and save the flavours we love🌍🫂 @cadburyuk we love u sm pls don’t let ur mini eggs turn to this xxxx @climatebasecamp ad
