✨️I can do it with a broken...foot✨️ ~Taylor Swift (probably) Breaking my calcaneum (heel bone) in 2024 wasn't on my Bingo sheet, and I don't think getting back into cosplay like this was either - but I'm really glad that it was. It took being very literally physically unable to make that bought me back to Wanting to create, and I'm grateful for that, though the continuing physical disability aspect does make it difficult. I cannot thank everyone who wheeled me around, was patient and understanding, assisted, and checked in on me. It was a really big undertaking to choreograph, practise, and make all 4 costumes for this piece in 5 weeks - and ngl, there was a moment when my anxiety got really bad and I considered bailing entirely, but I owe a lot to my psychologist for talking me through it and getting on with "doing it scared". 🥹 This August marks 20 years of me cosplaying 💀 I've had this "collage.psd" file on many computers over the past 2 decades, and always found it interesting to look back on what I've done and where I've been - so I also printed it out for people to look over at TGX last month. I believe there's only 2-3 costumes missing from this - one of them being my Very First cosplay in 2006, but it's otherwise pretty complete! With how cosplay and social media landscapes have changed over that time (and with what motivates me) I don't have a lot of incentive to share old work, but I also think it's really important for *everyone* to acknowledge their artistic pursuits as an entire body of work, that hopefully brightened someone's day. My interests and priorities have changed a lot over the years, but I'll always love making and meeting people through this silly nerdy artwork.
