Built for champions 🏆 Designed for Marathon. Custom jackets created with the awesome @vamprea for last week's Marathon Australia Invitational and Tau Ceti Cup tournaments. Here's a behind-the-scenes look at how they were made 🧵🪡

Over the past few months, I’ve been working with @playstationau and @bungie to design and create custom Marathon jackets for the winners of two upcoming @marathonthegame tournaments, the Australia Invitational (March 12) and the Tau Ceti Cup (March 14)!
The jacket is made from a range of water-resistant and windproof materials sourced specifically for this project. It has over 55 pattern pieces and took more than 60 hours to construct!
We wanted the jacket to feel really functional while still capturing the aesthetic of the game. One of my favourite details I designed is the exaggerated collar, which is fully integrated into the front panels of the jacket so there’s no front neck seam. To add versatility, I also designed a removable zip-off hood that also secures with hidden snaps at the front of the collar!
The curved paneling throughout the jacket was inspired by the shape language seen in Marathon’s game design. The jacket also features two front pockets, elasticated cotton ribbed cuffs with thumbhole cutouts, and an elasticated drawstring at the waistband so the fit can be adjusted.

Vamprea is a professional seamstress, after starting in high school making little bags out of scrap fabric that led to completing a Certificate in Fashion. Casually making their first costume and attending a con alone as Officer Jenny, it wasn't until a friend dragged her to a another con together as Card Captor Sakura characters, that the cosplay fire was truly lit.
Now with more than 10 years of experience in cosplay and 19 years in sewing, Vamprea has earned recognition on both national and international levels with awards for her cosplay craftsmanship and performances. Winning a round of Crown Cosplay in Sydney, Madman National Cosplay Competition, and most recently represented Team Australia at the 2024 ECG in France.
Beyond cosplay, Vamprea’s passion for costuming extends into her professional work, where she runs a bespoke costuming business specializing in custom burlesque outfits for performers worldwide. Vamprea is excited to return to Adelaide as part of Australia's next epic foray into the international cosplay scene!
