Whist a resident artist @sala_at_752 with @alangignoux we documented hundreds of political campaign banners across Poland at the time of their election back in 2023. Alan and I used Fuji instax. We had so many conversations about politics, voting, money, class and war! Alan and I learnt lots more about each other, different backgrounds but many times reached the same conclusion. Talking is good! We were researching mining in Poland and the politicians faces were following us around. We talked lots about the voting systems and the system in general. So for this photo book we decided to layer the instax with Alan’s photos of mining, as we were also discussing how the outcome of the elections would affect the industries and the people who rely on them. Held within @protestinphotobook Museum of Modern Art Krakow @stillsedinburgh @printedmatterinc This book was published by @gignouxphotos and designed by @stanleyjamespress and me. It’s @peckham24photo today. If you are there go take a look open it and have a play with the fortune teller. @stanleyjamespress @gignouxphotos @j.christensson @cjkemble @chloejuno #thepowersthatbe #peckham24 #photobooks

HOMELAND LOST: THE PALESTINIANS We have moved on a stage @stanleyjamespress is in the process of laying out test pages for our new photobook. We are working through many boxes of old photographs made by Alan in 2003 - 2005 organising negatives and rescanning the portraits. I’ve been living with these people on my walls for several months now, and over time, they’ve become companions on this bookmaking journey. When I work in my office and look at all the faces looking out at me they remind me that history - events as vast and devastating as the Nakba—is ultimately lived by individuals, each carrying their own story. Curator Jenny Christensson Portraits of Palestinian refugees with photographs of their former homes and villages in what today is Israel. Alan made these photos from 2003 -2005. Originally made in 2003-5, Alan Gignoux’s project Homeland Lost pairs portraits of Palestinian refugees with photographs of what remains of their former villages in Israel.  When we revisited Alan’s extensive archive in spring 2024 with a view to making a photobook, we decided to do an edit that would include every person who agreed to participate and their village.  The final edit consists of 197 portraits and 88 villages photographed in Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, the West Bank and Gaza.  The edit, which is arranged alphabetically by district and by village within former Palestine, spreads across several walls of my home.  It’s an essential reference as we develop the book. Produced with funding from The British Council East Jerusalem and an exhibition tour was made possible by the AM Qattan Foundation. First up is ‘Grande Bruto’ by David Cossini @canipsi ‘DOMESTIC’ looking at life in the ‘HOME’ Sharing gently over the next few months work included within our installation. Following a series of ill-fated events, a mental breakdown, and fresh out of a psychiatric hospital, Leo found himself broke, in the grip of an alcohol addiction and living with Glen, an Aussie larrikin who struggles with his own addiction problems, in a rundown house on the outskirts of Newcastle. Despite his dire predicament, Leo fell in love and married Rosie, a sweet, god-fearing woman who saw his faults and decided to love him anyway. This project details their life on the margins. It’s raw, unflinching, full of humanity and often laced with humour. These intensely personal works are intended for those who are broken and for those rare hearts that choose to love them anyway.  David Cossini thank you Dave x To see more from this story go to Australia. September 2025 for 2 days and a night, we put up an installation in Safe House 1 and 2, empty houses that act as a space for the arts in Peckham, London. DOMESTIC a site-responsive installation exploring the layers of life within the home, set across two empty terraced houses in Peckham, London. Featuring 42 international photographers, film maker and sound design. Sound by @alexander.painter Rewind Britain, a film by @leoleigh   screened in Safe House 2. Printing sponsored by @rawcanvasuk Curators @chloejuno and @xdani.brownx Thank you for all your support @alexander.painter @generationximages @virtual.stink @maverickprojects @rawcanvasuk And to all the photographers who helped make this happen.

Here are a few of the beautiful prints by our sponsor @rawcanvasuk . Last Thursday, we unrolled 40 incredible photographs—powerful stories and images by photographers selected for our installation DOMESTIC. It was so important to us that the quality of the prints was strong and that the colours popped off the walls while staying true to the photographers’ original files. All were printed on archival art paper. Aaron from Raw Canvas is offering a 15% discount on all printing throughout September. Just get in touch with him via email: [email protected] and mention ‘SHRINE OF THE MUSES’ to claim. Rose 💐🐈‍⬛ by me @chloejuno Spent some time today that reminded me of a social history project I worked on ten years ago. ‘Knock On Any Door’ Tarner History. An oral history and photography project / book looking at life in Brighton and the history / ins and outs of how people managed financially in the area. We made a book full of photography and interviews with up to 40 people. I led the project with @projecthouse.archive #oralhistory #life #documentaryphotography #photobooks #gasbills #cats #roses #waterbills #health #love #life #memory

John Starkey, Clairvoyant, LIandudno, Wales by @emyr_payne_writer_photographer Over on my blog some new features are rolling in. Today I’ve shared work and words by Emyr Payne. @john_starkey_clairvoyant “ I’ve become quite obsessed, to be honest, and the more I do it, the more I want to do it. The perfect life for me would be to quit the day job and use my time to write stories and take pictures but of course, the world doesn’t work like that” Emyr Payne Thank you Emyr and keep making photos, @chloejuno x 💖 #wales #document #cjfeatures #zine #photobook #lifenow #feature #chloejuno #emyrpayne #documentaryphotography #living

CJ FEATURES : BANKRUPT - JOHN BOLLOTEN - DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY July 17, 2024 @johnbolloten I came across this photo ‘BANKRUPT’ in John’s collection, for me it’s an image that represents a sign of our times, past and present. John is making some fantastic work looking at life in Britain now and I would highly recommend visiting his website and investing in some of his publications. He has pushed forward in the photo industry making work that’s true to his life experiences, what he sees, and the people he knows. It’s not work that has been easily embraced by a small group in the photo community but has been embraced by many others, and John works hard at making sure his work is seen. NOTHING BUT A CURTAIN - @zula.ra #transpride🌈 Over the years I have collected so many zines from photographers and different types of photography magazines. One of my favourites is @sourcephotographicreview Once a week I have an hour where I have to wait in a cafe, chip shop or a tiny old Italian restaurant. Decided to take some publications with me to get a chance to really look! Life often gets in the way. Today I’m really looking at the work by @zula.ra featured in @sourcephotographicreview Summer 2022 edition #108 GENERATIONS ‘ Zulas work popped off the pages at me whilst I looked over the magazine, doing what documentary photography does best, highlighting stories of people who very often have a element of struggle in their life and shine through the eyes of a documentary photography who is interested in empowering a person and telling their story! It’s extremely tough to be who you really want to be in this life and 👊🏻 to Zula and the people in the portraits. I love real human stories. Almost 33 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989, it is not uncommon to come across people in the former eastern bloc whose view is that gender identity is neatly divided between man and women without acknowledging the full and fluid range of gender identities ( this of course is true across the world ) Consequently questioning one’s identity and coming out as queer can have serious consequences’ to read more head to Source Magazine - @uschi.klein #Inspiration #documentary #foundphotos #zines #chipshop #zineshop #spitscreen #1990s @chloejuno 🗑️🤠 #transrights #gayrights #genderfluid #genderqueer #identity #freedom

LOVE STORY by @johnbolloten yesterday I had some time waiting to go in for miner operation check up, and I decided to grab a zine / photo book to look through. I’m enjoying making the publications that sit on my bookshelf come out on trips with me! Those moments inbetween things! #waiting #waitingroom #zines #photobooks #documetinglife Whilst I waited to hear my name called I looked through ‘ Love Story’ each page totally distracting me from my personal life stress. As soon as I started to move through the book I could feel myself drawn in as if I was there in the front room with Gary and Maree, I love photography like this! Not feeling like the photographer is there but they become our eyes if that makes sense. These are Johns friends and you can tell. It’s a book bursting with passion and pain. I felt anxious waiting for my name to be called but this book completely changed my mood and I lost track of time. The editing is so good to. CJ x I first met Gary and Maree in 2016 while I was taking photographs for my book Nothing To See Here. After that work was published, I was considering my next steps and decided that I wanted to do a more in-depth, personal and intimate view into the lives of people who used drugs. I bumped into Gary one day about a year and a half after our first meeting and I asked if I could photograph him and Maree at home. He agreed and this work was born. For eight months, between February and October 2018, I visited Gary and Maree weekly at their flat. Gary is 44 years old and has been injecting heroin since he was 15. He and drinks a number of tins of strong Polish lager every day and sometimes smokes crack. Maree is 24 and doesn’t use heroin. She smokes crack and also drinks lager daily. This book documents the times I was there and aims to give an insight into two lives, that like many other similar people, is hidden from public view. @johnbolloten #documentaryphotography #photojournalism #lovestory #drugs #love #friendship
