Summer announcement! Circus Amara is thrilled to be returning to our birthplace @the_living_room_stage this summer! We are grateful to be back amongst an awesome performance line up and crew, and so tickled by this years epic music line up! This marks our five year anniversary as a crew, building wild and wondrous acts, playful choreographies and out of this world costumes. High Tea by @circusamara 🫖✨ A dream was realized the day Circus Amara debuted this avant-garde stilt tea party extravaganza at the Living Room Stage last summer. In this improvisational street theatre-style show, the performance is shaped by the environment and the people who play alongside the performers. Guests are invited into a nonsensical, dreamlike reality where, if the tea is flowing, the party keeps going! The team was incredibly thrilled and grateful to bring this show to the Living Room for its first time out in the world. Day One at @woodfordfolkfestival !! @arielamara showcasing her Stilt Hoop performance at this event is such a treat and honour and the lead up has been a wild a creative ride, doing our first official international gig! I want to acknowledge the incredible vision and work of Bill Hauritz, the founder of this incredible festival that has been running since 1987. Without people like him creating environments where people come together to share art and culture, share their talents, foster creativity, and enjoy the beautiful magic of this world together, companies like ours wouldn’t exist. Circus Amara is literally the product of the opportunities that we’ve been given by people and organizations that have believed in us and have created platforms that we can bring our art to. I want to send huge love and gratitude and condolences and heartfelt acknowledgement to all of those who were a part of Bill’s life and to Bill’s family, as he passed away less than two weeks before this year’s event at the age of 73. We are so excited to share more as the week progresses!! #love #art #community #circus #passion

We are thrilled to announce our participation as booked performers at @woodfordfolkfestival this year, in Queensland Australia! @arielamara will be performing daily wondering hoop shows and a duo version of ‘We Love Lamp’ will emerge on three nights of the festival with @christophilus.wall , the lamp of her life and an instrumental collaborator in the development of the moth and lamp costumes. Only a small team can make it this time, but this is an exciting opportunity to explore international performance opportunities, and to see what’s possible for the future! It’s been a huge summer, we’ve grown and explored and gone above and beyond, realizing dreams along the way! So excited to share everything from the summer festivals, one of which is the debut of this new stilt act: Welcome to ‘High Tea’! Come see us at the Granville Block Party on Sunday August 24th. We have the pleasure of showcasing it for the first time in downtown Vancouver, after a very successful first couple runs out of town. Find us between 3:45pm-4:45pm, enjoy or join the nonsense and have a treat! Followed by roving set 6pm-6:30pm.
