I write this with a heavy heart and deep humility. I never imagined I’d be in a position where I’d have to ask my community for help, but today, I find myself here. Many of you know my wife, Trish. For those who don’t, she is a force of nature—full of life, adventure, and an unwavering desire to help others. She is the person who shows up when someone is in need, offering a helping hand without hesitation. Now, she is the one who needs help. On October 26, 2023, a broken piece of heavy gym equipment came crashing down on the front of her head, knocking her to the ground with total memory loss and the biggest dent in her head I’ve ever seen. When she woke up, she wasn’t the same. Trish suffered a traumatic brain and neck injury (TBI), and for the past year and a half, she has battled its devastating effects. Heaviest first turns of the season at Nazarè, Portugal couldn’t have gone better. “A day I’ll never forget” No words can describe my loving gratitude for my wife and her determination in kicking me out of the house for a much needed last minute Birthday adventure. I probably should have bought a lottery ticket as the way everything fell into place with perfection, was beyond lucky. Having grown up skiing Squaw Valley since I was 3 years old; days like this were more the norm as crowd factor was soo much different compared to today. Sometimes just going with the flow with an open mind, positive energy and good people; is what the magic of life is all about. With only a handful of days on snow this season; it’s great to know I haven’t forgotten the reason I love Winter. Huge shout out to Mother Nature for the deep snow and perfect bluebird skies and to the Palisades ski patrol for opening up all the goods while keeping us safe on an unusually empty day of days.
