Appreciate all your unconditional love, lionhearted courage and support. All your patience with us three rowdy, scrappy kids and the same boundless love now for all the grandkids … not to mention all our friends growing up and all the different girlfriends & boyfriends we dated along the way. Thank you for passing on all our Palestinian traditions, food and family history even with all our family spread all across the globe. Moving to the US from Central America was hard enough for you as young parents but having to do it , especially during the years when we arrived - added to its challenges. You never quit and instilled in us that determination to push through it all. Love you mom. Feliz día de las madres. أحبك أمي 💐💝

Black and white stripes, blind arcades, centuries of history carved in stone. At San Lorenzo Cathedral in Genova, the facade alone is worth stopping for. The inside is a whole other story. Follow for more🔥 #italianheritage #italianart #arthistory

"Let us come to Genoa, which you say you have never seen. You will see a royal city, leaning against a steep alpine hill, superb in her men and her walls, whose very appearance proclaims her the lady of the sea; yet her own power, as has happened to many cities, harms and damages her, for it feeds the disputes and jealousies of her citizens." Petrarch wrote this passage in 1358 in his Itinerarium Syriacum, a travel guide written for his friend Giovanni Mandelli. Part of the original latin reads: "Videbis ergo imperiosam urbem lapidosi collis in latere, virisque et menibus superbam, quam dominam maris aspectus ipse pronunciat." ... #genova #fiuloveszena #fiuinzena #lasuperba #ilovethiscity❤️

Come and enjoy a celebration of memory, identity, and cultural legacy at Finding One’s Ceremony: The Gathering – Saturday April 25th 5:30 to 9:30 PM @wophafoundation Green Space Miami @greenspacemiami 7200 Biscayne Boulevard Miami, FL 33138 Join us for Finding One’s Ceremony: The Gathering, a half-day celebration with food, live music, and dance, bringing together artists, scholars, musicians, and filmmakers in a vibrant exploration of memory, identity, and cultural legacy. This immersive program unfolds through a live conversation between artists Zonia Zena @zozenaphoto and Diana Larrea with art historian Carol Damian and curator Aldeide Delgado @aldeide_delgado , alongside, Sumaq Tusuy Dance Activation, by Lucía Morales @luciamorales_art featuring musicians and original arrangements by the Andean music groups Kuyayky and Estampa Criolla de Peter Zegarra. The event also includes a film screening, Warmikunaq Ruwaynin, curated by Diana Larrea @parcialmentenublada , featuring works by Peruvian women filmmakers. Among the featured films is Julia Se Revela, a biographical documentary on Julia Chambi López, regarded as the first Andean and Peruvian woman photographer by Claudia Holgado López, a 2023 WOPHA Research Fellow. Tracing photographs and personal objects, the film reveals Julia—daughter, sister, artist, photographer, politician, and devoted to Cusco—through the stories, places, and people that continue to remember her. Taking place on April 25, 2026, the program coincides with the 492nd anniversary of the Spanish founding of Jauja, historically recognized as the first capital of Peru. This temporal convergence deepens the event’s reflection on ceremony, history, and the enduring presence of Andean cultural memory. #FIUArtandArtHistory #FIUArt #CARTACreativeForcesAtWork @fiu_carta_dean @fiucarta @fiuart

The Spring 2026 S.U.R.G.E. Review Week for its graduate and undergraduate students. Partnering with @fiuart at @fiuinstagram the Department of Art + Art History presents this department-wide intensive dedicated to critique, exhibition, experimentation, and dialogue. S.U.R.G.E. Week runs from April 13–17. During this week, regular class routines shift to create space for deeper creative engagement: students present work-in-progress, install exhibitions, receive sustained feedback, and participate in conversations that push ideas forward. This is not a break from the semester. It is an intensive moment of reflection, exchange, and creative momentum. The program opened with an activation led by artist Robertha Haddad Blatt. This partnership will continue throughout the year with further interactions involving additional artists and curatorial perspectives. @roberthablatt | Guri Guru: Intuition in Action Guri Guri is a relational device in which each element is calibrated to open a field of encounter, a space of trust and openness where the group can perceive itself, self-regulate, and discover what each participant carries within their own repertoire of gestures, impulses, and interests. We are excited to invite you to an engaging presentation on Caribbean women’s photography by 2026 WOPHA @wophafoundation Research Fellow Lauren Baccus, in collaboration with FIU’s Department of Art + Art History (@fiuart ). In Conversation: Lauren Baccus and Aldeide Delgado features 2026 WOPHA Research Fellow Lauren Baccus (@bythelb ) in dialogue with WOPHA Founder & Director Aldeide Delgado (@aldeide_delgado ). Baccus will share her research project, “Intimate Archives and Black Feminist Memory”, which explores Caribbean women’s photography as a practice of intimate archiving and a form of Black feminist memory work. Her research foregrounds how artists and community archivists use photographic practices, such as family albums, domestic scenes, rituals, and everyday moments, to sustain Caribbean diasporic memory and challenge erasures perpetuated by official histories and colonial frameworks. #FIUArtandArtHistory #FIUArt #CARTACreativeForcesAtWork @fiu_carta_dean @fiucarta Should you need an ADA accommodation to participate in a University event, program, or activity or need to request materials in an accessible format, please contact FU’s Office of Civil Right Compliance and Accessibility (CRCA) at 305-348-2/85 or [email protected].
