The problem with the whole "being present" thing is that you end up with almost zero photos to show for it. Oh well... I still have no regrets. Flaming Man 2025 set live now - link in bio! On July 4th, I had the privilege of DJing a party that's become one of the highlights of my summer each year. Life is full of uncertainty, which makes it all the more important to seize the moment we have to celebrate and create oases of joy. This 5-hour mix is an excerpt from my full set, which ran outdoors from dusk until the wee hours of the morning. It was the soundtrack to a night that served as a testament to the moments which imbue our lives with meaning: the gaiety of community, the wonder and beauty of the world around us. Ranging from cheerful and whimsical to quirky and campy, it's the perfect vibe for pepping up your day, getting ready for the night, or just sitting by the fire and marveling at our magical universe. Thank you to everyone who made this night what it was, dancing under the stars and creating memories to treasure for years to come. Nobody was more shocked than I was when I signed up to canvass for Zohran Mamdani. It's been fifteen years since the last time I knocked on a stranger's door to ask them to vote for a political candidate. It's not that I stopped caring. We just didn't have any candidates worth fighting for. Especially in New York, where we're lucky to have a contested election (or even an election at all, thanks to party chicanery), canvassing just never felt like a worthwhile use of my energy, especially when the candidates were all milquetoaste compromises, the "lesser of two evils". How can I ask a stranger to support a candidate when I barely want to support them myself? Then suddenly, that excuse evaporated. Zohran Mamdani is not just here telling us that a better world is possible. He's here fighting to make it happen. When I heard that the campaign needed Bengali-speaking volunteers for outreach to immigrant families, without hesitating, I signed up to canvass in the East Bronx - over 2.5h away by subway, round trip. Being able to speak to people in our mutual native language about a candidate with a true vision for a better city has been heartwarming beyond words. Parkchester is a corner of the city that looks and feels so different from where I live or usually spend my time, and yet it's still New York - a beautiful reminder of how diverse our city is. Zohran said it himself at the rally last weekend that packed Terminal 5. "The time for moral victories is over." We're not just here to fight symbolic fights. We're here to fight for what we believe in - and 𝘄𝗶𝗻. If you believe a better city is possible, you're not alone. I urge you to sign up to canvass or phonebank this week at the link in @zohrankmamdani 's bio. Voting for Zohran is good, but that alone is not what's going to send Cuomo packing back to Westchester. This week, Disco Dungeon turns 3! Join us for an extra-special livestream party ❤️🎶🕺 Disco Dungeon has its roots in the height of the pandemic, during lockdown. I did a few one-off streams, just for fun. After things reopened, it was wonderful to see my local friends in-person again after so long, but I realized I missed connecting with friends from all over the world. So I decided to start a biweekly streaming party for everyone to hang out. And for the last three years, that's exactly what we've done every (other) Tuesday. Whatever you find yourself doing on a Tuesday night, it's more fun with some eclectic dance music, and a chat of friends to go with it. The stream has evolved over time - the first few (during lockdown) drew heavily from the nostalgia of the dance floors that I missed so much. I still play plenty of that music too, but this format has given me a chance to pull in tracks from the deeper corners of my crates - songs that I might not play at a club, but which are near and dear to me and fit beautifully into the livestream format. It's also been a great opportunity to play some of my own original tracks which I've produced, sometimes even when they're still in the experimental stages. (I may or may not have one in mind for tomorrow.... 🤫) It's been such a joy connecting with folks in the chat over the last few years, and even more so for the new friends I've met along the way.
