Okay, so I’m trying to get a hang of talking about myself and my accomplishments (um, awkwardly)... but here’s a rundown of my 2024/2025
* I completed the @durbanfilmmart producers business lab.
* I produced a beautiful feature. That was the legendary Late Onyeka Onwenu’s last film before her sad passing.
* I attended the African Creative Television (ACTV) line producing lab
* I wrote a bunch of tv shows that have screened on Tv
* I wrote a Sierra Leonan show that I absolutely enjoyed writing and has been produced. Can’t wait for it to come out.
* I directed my first film. Actually I directed 2 short films.
* I got to help develop a series for a major South African network with an amazing screenwriter @caz_doc
* I got to write a major series #SIN currently streaming on Prime
* Most recently my biggest learning experience was at the @cchubcreative Gender Equitable Storytelling producers lab where I got to learn from the amazing @msjazzyfied the absolute best at everything concerning filmmaking, @judithaudu one of the first people who believed in my story telling skills, @njoki_muhoho who was also my mentor at the DFMI business lab. And another Gender Equitable Storytelling workshop with @nadineibrahimfilms who I absolutely love working with every time I get to. Cheers to telling better stories.
I still have a lot of learning, unlearning and relearning to do and I’m very open to growth and I am hopeful about what the rest of the year has in store for me.

WE DID IT!
I’m beyond thrilled to share that ‘To Adaego With Love’ has been selected to screen at the iconic Egyptian Theatre, Aero Theatre, and Norris Theatre in Hollywood! 😍 As part of the top three films from Nollywood to make it to Hollywood, this is a dream come true.
When I set out to make this film, I knew I wanted to tell a story that would resonate with people, a story that would travel. And to see it happening so early in the release is overwhelming.
This film was a labour of love. Every single person who worked on it poured their heart and soul into it, and it’s amazing to see it pay off. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished, and we’re grateful for the love it’s received so far.
If you’re in LA, grab a ticket and come watch it on the big screen! We are still screening in cinemas Nationwide so please grab your tickets and I assure you it’s a cinema experience like never before.
Thank you @nollywoodinhollywoodla and to everyone who’s supported us on this journey. This is just the beginning!

To Adaego with Love just got selected for the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival 🙏🏽
I’m a bit emotional writing this because I know the road we walked to get here.
Thank you to all 302 cast members and 108 crew members who gave this film your time, sweat, and heart. Thank you to everyone who held my hand then, and is still holding it now. To the collaborators and true friends who want this film to win, and are playing every role you can to make it happen, I see you.
It hasn’t been easy. The film came with battles and storms. But I’m facing every one of them until it fulfills its purpose. This is not just our work. We have God, and this is His project.
And to everyone who went to the cinemas to watch To Adaego with Love in the short window it was there, thank you. Your support means everything. We’re doing everything we can to get the film to a wider audience soon.
On to Toronto 🇨🇦🇳🇬

Not everyone who walks with you wants you to arrive.
Some are just counting what they can take when you get there. From now on, I move with my eyes open and my peace intact.
He played chess. I’m plotting a whole movie.
“First Nigerian to plot her next story idea at the Louvre.” Found a corner and turned it to my writers room 🤣🤣🤣 God knows I had to 🤣 Please nobody should ask me to explain the joke, ask twitter people.

Allow me to reintroduce myself.
My name is Chidinma Brenda Garuba, professionally credited as Brenda Ogbukaa-Garuba (yes… I decided to keep everybody’s name so nobody will fight me 😄).
I am the producer and writer of the award-winning film ‘To Adaego with Love’.
Co-founder, Ziva Works Limited and Creative Producer at Tade Production House, a film production company based in Nigeria and Rwanda.
I am an independent film producer with a strong background in production, story development, and screenwriting, with experience in both film and television.
I tell authentic African stories for a global audience, focused on identity, resilience, and social justice. And once in a while, I step into the romance and comedy genre… because life cannot be serious all the time and una too like love.
I look forward to sharing my future projects with the world and telling the stories that matter.
