This weekend’s Haitian Heritage Month feature at Michael’s Genuine comes from Evenie 🇭🇹 Starting TODAY May 15 through Sunday May 17, we’ll be serving her Haitian Beef Patties / Pâté Kode with pikliz. It’s her son’s favorite dish she makes at home, and our @chefmschwartz gives it his stamp of approval at the end of the reel 👀 Evenie has been with us for over 3 years, working her way from dishwasher and prep cook to line cook. And to make this one even more special, today is her birthday 🥳 Each weekend this month at MGFD, we’re spotlighting one of our cooks and a dish that reflects their roots, story, and the food they love to share!

Starting off with a little this or that action before heading to Philly for the @greatchefsevent benefiting @alexslemonade on June 13, an organization funding childhood cancer research and support for families, a cause that’s very important to me. Hard to believe this will be my 14th year participating in this incredible event. Excited to see so many friends, familiar faces, and cook alongside some great chefs for a really meaningful weekend. Happy Mothers Day to all the beautiful mothers out there that make the world go round. Missing mine every day, especially on this day. Call your moms, tell her you love her. Not just today, but often. If you are fortunate enough to still have one, go for a visit. Make her feel special. You only get one. I love you mom ❤️

This weekend at Michael’s Genuine, we’re kicking off our Haitian Heritage Month specials with Lourdes’ Griot 🇭🇹 A Haitian classic made with marinated pork shoulder, pikliz (a spicy Haitian pickled slaw made with cabbage, carrots, peppers + vinegar), herbs, and traditional diri djon djon black mushroom rice. Lourdes has been part of our team for nearly 6 years, first starting in our commissary kitchen before joining MGFD full time after renovations. She’s someone our team can always count on, always going above and beyond to make sure everyone is set up for success! She’s featured this dish on our menu before and guests absolutely loved it, so we had to bring it back. Available all day TODAY Fri 8 thru Sunday May 10! 🇭🇹

The best thing about doing what I do is the places it has taken me and the people I met along the way And say what you want about California. But it is hands down one of the most stunning places in the entire world. The mountains and cliffs and rocks and beaches. The expansive Pacific Ocean humbles you. The sunsets. The air. The beauty. Wow On this trip for @pebblebeachfoodandwine , spending time with some of my favorite chefs, somms and personalities was the best part. @chefjwaxman , @chefjimmybradley , @joecampanaro , @chefsymon , @joeisidori , @cheftimon , @grapicavoli , @gastonyeli , @chefbeckernyc , @pastryschiff , @bigaseidel and of course my amazing wife @rima_k who reminds me how important it is to document it all. Oh and the food was pretty good too! Thank you Brett, @a21presents and @pebblebeachfoodandwine for an unforgettable weekend. Also big shout out to all the people that did the hard work herding the cats and planning logistics. It was seamless

We celebrated my niece @lindsaccone and Fred’s lifetime of love at their wedding with @ella.schwartz , @harrythedrummer and @rima_k . On the beach. In March. Down the shore! And it was amazing! Congrats on finally tying the knot (they’ve been together 20 years 😂). While we were at it we had some outstanding meals at @borgonyc in NYC, and @stissinghouse , @cafemutton , @casasusannacamptown and @quinniesnewyork while visiting Hudson Valley. What a great week! Oh, and the cider at @leftbankciders was 🔥 And…. Go Birds 🦅
