To honor the dead, we can ground ourselves in the truth of who they were to us, and honor that there is the human and there is the legend and the lore. I have loved and learned so much about who @revjjackson was and is to so many of you. I learned about movement building by learning about how Rev had a vision for and helped to build a new political bloc. How he was one of the first viable Black candidates for President of the United States. How he and his work transformed so many. I honor that and respect it and him. And I honor that it wasn’t always clean. That our best contributions can also fall short when met with new context and conditions, as happened in 2014. It begs of us to keep striving to learn, to grow, to stay present and to meet new context with awareness and humility, rigor and courage. Rest well, Rev. We will keep hope alive and we will remember that we are somebody. Thank you for everything and for all of it. Because you dared, we dare too.

Full moon. A long hot bath with honey and florida. Dancing with my loves from near and far. 90s hip hop and R&B. After parties with lemon pepper and a lot of love. At 535am we was still at it, and that’s why I love yall. Ifa brought me the clearest reminders of who my real ones are. That love and joy are abundant, even still. I am so deeply grateful for the friendships that I have, for the loved ones in my life. I am 45 and alive and for that I am deeply humbled. I do not take it for granted, especially right now. This year I am calling in more dance parties, tending to my friendship gardens, doubling down on gathering and strategy, and continuing to work on my self so that I don’t bleed on people who didn’t cut me. This year and for the years to come, eagles only. No chickens.

I’ll be honest — this was a weird ass year. Yes, it was hard in all the ways, yes, there was joy in all the ways, but I would say the theme for this year, for me, was discovery. This year I wasn’t the goo in the cocoon. This year I was the newly emerged butterfly learning how to use my wings, and remembering that I’ve always had them but this year I had to use them in new contexts. I prayed this year more than I’ve ever prayed in my whole damn life. I lost people I loved dearly. I learned to listen to signs and my gut, to wait for answers to unfold. I learned that what I know may be too early for many to understand, but I see what I see and I learned to trust that, even if it hadn’t quite materialized yet. The no’s that came from me were embodied for the first time in a long time — IYKYK. I said yes to shit that scared me, no to shit that wastes my time, and in this last gasp of 2025 I say —new year, more of me. Don’t ask me to come down to where you’re at. Ask me how you can get on my level, and take my hand.

The season two finale is here!
In this past year, we’ve learned SO much together: from the history of US fascism to the power of transforming grief into collective power and more.
It has been heavy times as we witness both repression and resistance escalate, and the fascism barometer continue to rise.
To end the season, we finish with a hopeful conversation with @chasinggarza where she lays out a recipe for liberation to guide us forward.
You’ll need to tune in for the full breakdown, but in short, the recipe calls for: * Political education * A vision for the future * Community * Organizing * Safety * Love   Listening to this podcast is one of the ingredients, but as you can see, we’re going to need more, and fast. As history tells us, defeating fascism IS possible— we just need to turn up the heat and get cooking.
We’re all in this together, and our movement is only growing stronger.
This season might be over, but the work does not stop. Visit our website to check out all of the resources we’ve compiled for you and take action as we plan for next year. Support @5calls , @protectoregon , @freechicagoproject , @freedcproject , @uscpraction , @criticalresistance , @unitedwedream , and more.
Thank you for listening, and stay tuned for opportunities to connect!

In our season finale, Alicia Garza breaks it down: there is no such thing as going “too far” when it comes to dignity, rights, and liberation. What we’re facing now is the real danger: fascist politics designed to divide communities, and consolidate power through fear and violence. Ejeris Dixon reminds us that our communities have a built-in sense for oppression. We’ve seen these tactics before. Segregation, lies about scarcity, narratives that pit us against each other. And it’s the same lie keeping fascists in power today. This moment demands clarity, courage, and collective action. And yes, we can turn this thing around!

May / June dump in July … proof of life from within the dumpster fire. What else is there to do really except hold tight to your people, find joy where and whenever you can, stay prayed the fuk up, stand up for what you believe in, make a safety and disaster plan, eat good shit, nourish love wherever it exists, dance until your feet hurt, and organize organize ORGANIZE
