@elisabeth.mulenga work for a while so I am very touched she wanted to be involved. She wrote this about my music 🫶🏽
Working closely with musicians has always been part of my work I find most sacred. I am inspired a lot by hauntedness, feelings of being haunted by past versions of ourselves, or versions that never came to be. This track has such an intrinsic feeling of memory, loss, nostalgia and a pull to move forwards, it resonated with me a lot. I love working with cellists, my mother’s a cellist, so the sound naturally brings up a lot of childhood memories I can’t quite name. I mainly improvised the movement, leaning into whatever feelings were arising, enjoying embracing the very real fatigue that a lot of us feel and connecting with Zara’s world.
