A VISION FOR A “future of architecture and nature” … The sculpture “Keratop” by Jan Contala is a novel fusion of innovative 3D printing technology and traditional ceramics, merging millennia-old craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology. In an era where architecture draws ever more inspiration from nature and ecology, “Keratop” pushes the boundaries of what is possible, offering a bold new vision for the future. … Crafted from high-precision printed ceramic elements, “Keratop” showcases organic forms that echo the intricacies of natural structures. This transformative use of an ancient material with modern technology provides fresh insights into the dynamic relationship between humanity and our environment. The sculpture encourages viewers to reflect on how urban and natural worlds can coexist harmoniously. … More than just a work of art, “Keratop” stands as a powerful statement on the future of architecture and sustainability. Each meticulously detailed component reveals a profound understanding of form, material, and technology. Through 3D printing, traditional ceramics are reimagined into entirely novel, complex shapes that embody a vision of a sustainable and forward-thinking society. By blending nature with urban space, “Keratop” invites viewers to reconsider how ecosystems interact within modern environments. … #ceralab #JanContala #Keratop #architecture #3dprinting #digitalfabrication #3d #ecology #future #ceramics #sculpture #contemporary #nature #patternsinnature #art #sculpture #clay #craft #digitalcraft #artoftheday #urbandesign #landesgartenschau #creative Image credit 📸 @maxschorch

biomic wall 3d-printed hydroponic ceramics … Biomic Wall is a 3D printed prototype developed within a master course at the University of Innsbruck. Biomic responds to the current environmental situation and its need to intertwine architecture and nature. The fragment, made, questions architecture within ecology and it's meaning as a space of cultural and biodiverse reproduction. This prototype consists of a multi-part, complex 3D ceramic that acts as a hybrid structure. A self sustaining urban vertical biotope is formed. In the past weeks, we explored creation as a collaborative craft. Shaping, adjusting, refining, attending to how each surface feels to the touch and how light falls across a plate. Even the smallest change in form shifted the way a dish is experienced. Every texture shaped how the dish was remembered. … #céramique #texture #plate #edibleart #finedining
