Completed in 2001, the 15-story headquarters for Hermès is wrapped in over 13,000 custom glass blocks that softly diffuse daylight by day and transform the building into a glowing beacon at night. Inspired by traditional Japanese lanterns, the façade balances privacy and openness while filtering views of the city. 📌Located in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, the Neojiba Rehearsal Hall by @leopoldbanchini is conceived as a singular, monolithic volume elevated on slender pilotis above the forest floor of Parque do Queimado. The concrete structure rests lightly within its natural context, allowing for unobstructed air circulation and vegetation growth beneath. With an emphasis on acoustic performance, the windowless envelope creates a focused internal environment, while strategically placed openings at ground level frame views of the surrounding greenery, fostering a subtle dialogue between interior and landscape. The project incorporates a rooftop garden populated with native tropical vegetation, visually extending the forest canopy and softening the building’s presence. At the entry, a shallow, reflective pond mirrors the structure and signals arrival without conventional signage. This landscaped threshold enhances the microclimate while creating a spatial buffer between the rehearsal space and the public park. ⛰️When architecture disappears into the Alps. Designed by @search_architects , @bjarnemastenbroek and Christian Müller Architects, the villa is embedded directly into the hillside of the alpine village of Vals, nearly disappearing into its surroundings. Instead of occupying the landscape, the project cuts into it, using the mountain itself as shelter, insulation, and architecture. Its most recognizable feature is the circular façade opening, framing panoramic views of the Swiss Alps while bringing daylight deep into the underground interior. Connected through a hidden tunnel to a nearby barn, the home preserves the visual character of the village while creating a private retreat beneath it. 🫧This Met Gala dress is designed to dissolve. For the Met Gala, Iris van Herpen (@irisvanherpen ) collaborated with AA Murakami (@a.a.murakami ) to create the ‘Airo’ Dress worn by @EileenGu . Inspired by the idea that the human body is made of 99.9% empty space, the garment transforms that invisible concept into motion. Hidden microprocessors inside the dress control the release of pressurized gas, generating floating bubbles that drift around the wearer in real time. The piece is built from 15,000 hand-formed iridescent glass bubbles, each individually bonded using UV light—blurring the line between fashion, engineering, performance, and kinetic design. No CGI. No AI.
