For Under Armour’s Performance Tee range, we shot a series of these hyper-dynamic films that showcase what it feels like when technology switches on. The films, directed by Zika, strip away distractions and focus on the body, the motion and the fabric - more desire than demo. Working with time ramps allow us to feel the sense of flow that transcends peak performance. Transforming a Shenzhen badminton hall into a live, interactive paint studio, the Maison Margiela / Bianchetto exhibition was an opportunity for Margiela fans to rework their own wardrobe with the trademark Bianchetto white painting method. Every garment then got its own special stamp marking the occasion, with final touches, including the signature four-corner stitch label hand-sewn on each piece. The room was alive with energy, a collective moment of creation, where each piece carried the spirit of the atelier and guests experienced a distinctly Margiela perspective. The iconic Tabi, a silhouette adored by Margiela fans for decades featured recently in an exhibition as part of the Maison Margiela / Folders China project. This exhibition featured some of the world’s most dedicated Tabi collectors with their collections and wardrobes reproduced at the Chengdu event. We worked with Fish Zhang to document three Asia-based collectors and their collections in Shanghai, Changsha and Seoul. In addition we produced video interviews with all the collectors discussing their beloved Tabis that were all shown at the event. Within a row of carefully placed shipping containers directly on Yandang Lu in the heart of Shanghai, an archival collection of Maison Margiela’s most iconic pieces since 1989 were displayed as public art for all to admire, with some of the looks coming right off the historic FW26 show held the day before the exhibition opened. The installation blended seamlessly into the rhythm of the street. City walkers meandered through the exhibition in the spring sunshine, while photographers captured the display and the fashionistas, all styled in their favourite Margiela pieces. We first met Zuo Shutong on a rain-soaked day in a container yard just outside Shanghai. As the light faded, rain and nightfall transformed the space into something eerie, yet undeniably magnificent. Days later, magnificence shined on the Maison Margiela FW26 Show, the first ever show outside of Paris. And on the night before the show, and in the rain again, Shutong shaped light and smoke into a cinematic narrative, echoing the vision set out by @glennmartens Some hero looks from the collection.
