The brief was to encapsulate the commanding presence of X5, so I dreamed up a car that defies the laws of physics, rain droplets that goes upwards, waves of water frozen in time, Dust trail that brews thunder in it. When the board first landed in my hands, I could tell it needed a serious revamp to enhance its value. Fortunately, both the agency and the client embraced a bold pivot from their initial direction. It‘s a unique challenge to transform an on-location shot entirely in-studio, all in the name of artistic potential. And I’m glad we insisted it. After all the goal was to bridge the divide between a traditionally older clientele and the vibrant, edgier audience. For a very long time, I refused to pick up a camera to document the world around me. Not because the world had become boring, but because I had. Since stepping into commercial filmmaking, the path from idea to shoot has become long, deliberate, and filled with preparation. So much has to fall into place before the camera can start rolling. Somewhere in that process, I lost touch with the instinct to simply press record and capture life as it is. This year, I decided to pick up a camera again. To be spontaneous. To film whatever is happening around me. After all every moment is fleeting. And maybe all of it is worth holding onto.

Recent work for @goretexstudio We went chasing bad weather and found a room made of it. On the ridge the air was thick as water; in the city the brick held rain. Arms turns into cyclone; knees become a launchpad. When rain hit the fabric and rolled off like small decisions, it clicked. Thank you to the dancers who lent each other sky, the rig team who made it safe, and the crew who stood ankle-deep and steady so we could keep the pulse.
