Dear Black Woman,
I’m a proud mom, wife, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. I am a woman who wears many titles with love and grace. An avid journaler, list maker, and planner, I have long turned to writing as a form of expression and release—a sacred space where my inner life can unfold freely onto the page.
As the mother of two amazing young women, my oldest, 27 years old, holds a master’s degree in Journalism and works as a Junior Creative for a production company in Hollywood, CA, and my youngest, 22, is a doctorate student at Syracuse University in NY pursuing her AuD in Audiology, this project is personal.
My first literary project, My Hero is M.O.M., Made Of Melanin, is a deeply personal offering rooted in her lived experience and spirit. It is a multidirectional, poetic tribute to the rich, layered experience of Black motherhood—a lyrical collection of odes, poetic reflections, and intimate narrative moments that speak to the heart of being both woman and mother.
Driven by a passion to illuminate the beauty, resilience, and duality of Black mothers, I write with tenderness, fire, and a deep reverence for the women who nurture, lead, and evolve through generations. With every word, I seek to honor the complexity of motherhood and how it intersects with womanhood, the celebration of cultural pride, and the creation of a lasting tribute that feels like art in the hands and healing for the soul.
Through My Hero is M.O.M., Made Of Melanin, Regina invites readers to sit at the table of shared experience—a table built on love, memory, sacrifice, and becoming.
Come hear the story I wrote for you,
Regina Reed Hill
