“It’s not about being perfect. It’s not about where you get yourself in the end. There’s power in allowing yourself to be known and heard, in owning your unique story, in using your authentic voice.” — Michelle Obama, “Becoming”

I will be speaking and sharing my healing journey at the “Surviving to Thriving” event with Janice’s Women’s Center. By sharing my story, I hope to inspire healing, awareness, and change in both community spaces and political conversations. Recently, I have been more engaged in advocacy work addressing the impact of funding cuts. I am thankful for @shante_saulsberry work at the Capitol.
I hope to see you there!

More about "Surviving to Thriving":
One night. One room. One conversation that could save a life. Janice’s Women’s Center invites you into a powerful, moving experience.
April was not just another month.
Across the country, and right here in our communities, women lost their lives to domestic violence. Not strangers. Not statistics.
Daughters. Mothers. Sisters. Friends.
And now, people are asking the questions that come too late:
“What were the signs?”
“Could this have been prevented?”
“What do I do if this happens to someone I love?”
This event exists because those questions deserve answers, before it’s too late.
On May 23rd, Janice’s Women’s Center invites you into a powerful, emotionally moving experience designed to educate, equip, and activate our community.
This is for:
🌻Women who want to understand the signs
🌻Men who want to protect the women in their lives
🌻Fathers raising daughters
🌻Young men learning what healthy love actually looks like
🌻Teens navigating relationships
🌻Families who never want to say “we didn’t know”

Recently, I made the decision to pursue my Master’s degree in one of the following areas: (currently looking for an aligned program)
🌻 Cognitive Neuroscience
🌻 Neuropsychology with a creative focus
🌻 Neuroaesthetics / NeuroArts
I truly believe that art has the power to heal, connect, and transform us. It is an emerging interdisciplinary field combining the topics I absolutely love like neuroscience, psychology and creative arts to explore how the brain processes, responds to, and is affected by ART.
If you know of any amazing programs, please let me know. This was an amazing NeuroArts coalition to connect, share ideas, challenges, and solutions, etc. Until next time.

"The People of Phoenix" Portrait Experience by @zee__zzz 🌻
In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, "The People of Phoenix" created a space for people to pause, connect, and be seen.
Are you interested in joining the Art Heals Arizona (formerly Free Arts) Board of Directors? @arthealsaz
I serve as a Board of Director and Professional Artist Series Teaching Artist. I first learned about Art Heals Arizona when I was a Shop Manager at Neiman Marcus. I came across a fundraiser there and could feel the energy and emotion in every piece of art created by the participants. It resonated deeply that I signed up to become a Mentor within a week. At Art Heals Arizona we serve on average 7,561 children in foster care, schools, etc. a year in the state of Arizona.
Art Heals Arizona (formerly Free Arts) programs are built using a trauma-informed approach to help participants feel safe, express themselves, build skills, develop self-efficacy and resilience and hope.
ART + MENTORS = RESILIENCE
If this speaks to you, I invite you to consider applying to join the board.
