Vaporwave is a complex and evolving blend of aesthetic, musical, and cultural commentary and lends itself to inspire the diverse Memphis community to experiment with their creative expression. It's an art movement built on connecting and going against the status quo.
I hope to get more ears on this genre that is still obscure to some and to promote the live performances for local artists making weird music that you wouldn't see on the front pages of our newspapers or magazines. I hope to put a spotlight on these small artists that have a voice. I want people to step outside of their comfort zones and go more places and experience more of Memphis and not just what the tourists see. I hope to make you want to search for more types of music outside of the 10 songs playing on the popular stations at any given time.
