GAP / SET / FORCE FF/PM Mason Svatos getting some “Irons” work on our forcible entry door prop. Seconds matter in an emergency, that’s why we train to never lose a moment getting to those who need us. The “irons” is the nickname given to the commonly carried complement of a 30” ProBar Halligan, and an 8lb Flat-Head Axe. #ccfd6 #clarkcountywa #iaff452 #firedepartment #clarkcountynews

Another year of the CCFD6 Cadet Program is in the books, and these cadets finished strong with a 3-day shift simulator at MERTS. Throughout the simulation, the hard work, dedication, and countless hours these cadets have put in over the last year were on full display. From fireground operations to teamwork, communication, and problem solving, their growth and improvement in skill and confidence were evident in every scenario. We are proud of the commitment these young men and women have shown to the fire service and excited to watch where their futures lead. We would like to thank Cadet Chief Wyatt Hannan for the leadership he showed in his role and his commitment to helping his peers. Also, a special thank you to Program Director, Captain Cole Edgley for the leadership, mentorship, and time invested into making this program such a success. Your dedication continues to shape the next generation of firefighters. Great work, Cadets. “Courage. Confidence. Cadets” #CCFD6 #dedicatedtoexcellence #futurefirefighters #MERTs #cascadiatechnicalacademy

This morning just before 0700 crews were dispatched to a Residential Structure Fire in the NE Union Road area. E25 arrived on scene simultaneously with multiple companies from Station 63 and found smoke coming from a roof vent in the middle unit of a 4-plex. Truck 63 crews were assigned all-in for Search and while searching the second floor located the fire in the bathroom vent fan extending into the attic. T63 was able to knock down the majority of the fire with a water can and pulled the bathroom ceiling down to check for extension. No injuries were reported, and the Clark County Fire Marshal is on scene. Units Responding: E63, E25, E61, E7, T63, T1, BC61, BC1, CCFM #ccfd6 #clarkcountywa #iaff452 #firedepartment #clarkcountynews

The past two days the Station 63 training tower has had the pleasure of hosting the @vententersearch_com training cadre as they present their Can Confidence HOT (Hands On Training) class. This class is apart of a the larger Trails End Fire Conference based in Oregon City. This conference consists of multiple HOT classes as well as lectures and brings firefighters in from across the region and country. Can Confidence is designed to build confidence in one of the most underutilized tools on the fireground—the 2½-gallon water extinguisher, commonly known as the “can.” When placed in the hands of a well-trained firefighter, the can becomes a powerful lifesaving tool. Used while searching ahead of the hose line, it allows firefighters to quickly apply water between the fire and potential victims. This class emphasizes starting the extinguishment process with what may be the fire’s first interaction with water, a small but decisive action that can save lives. Thank you for choosing CCFD6 as your training location and for including Truck 63 crews in Can Confidence.
