Really delighted to be in this show alongside so many greats. Opening this Thursday in Baltimore @marylandartplace . Curated by dream team @jimcondron and @glennandgoldberg 💚💛 ** Two Days is an exhibition conceived around two cities, Baltimore and New York. In 1901, the Baltimore Orioles were sold to New York and became the New York Highlanders. In 1913 they were renamed the Yankees. The two cities are linked together through America’s favorite pastime. Two Days celebrates the East Coast and the ever-evolving relationship between Baltimore and New York. The exhibition is curated by the artists Jim Condron and Glenn Goldberg. Jim lives and works in Baltimore and New York and Glenn is a lifelong New Yorker. Both have exhibited and taught in the Baltimore and New York areas.

People always ask, “How do you move these?” Painstakingly is the answer. For transport, each string of slime charms was lovingly taped into tidy bundles by my mother @coniferoustiver in a true gesture of care ❤️ @sarahbmccannbmore photo of me unfurling each string captures the focus pretty well. As does the photo of my sweet nephew sliding each charm to bottom of its string when he visited my studio. These objects are made by hands and cared for with patience, and somehow that gives them their strength. This one is impossible to photograph but I hope you can see it in person this month @sbm_gallery in Baltimore 🫶 Face to the Sun Sticks, paper, paint, slime charms 56 x 38 x 22in 2025

Swing is swinging @cur.mudge.on @ni____________ne until April 4th. I think a lot about the city person longing for the wilderness, I consider myself one of these creatures. Protect the earth of course, but I also try to remember we are in fact nature, and everything is chemicals, the artificial-natural continuum is actually a spiral, and we just have to be available to receive the sublime wherever we are. @will.kaplan says it much better in this companion essay to the show, excerpted here. Show curated by @jordanmsegal “A city’s gray compartments  stoke this chaos, and force us deeper into the wilderness of our imagination. The outcome is art that both marks and makes an irreducible sense of place. From this vantage point, the artists of Anywhere but Here humbly reflect their surroundings into an environment capable of nurturing all life. This survey of Landscape’s many modes–mournful, imaginative, polemical–does not simulate the Sublime, but longs for its harmony as a way of being. These artworks offer dispatches towards the widest scope of our collective home, remade and re-mended outside of our own image.” -Will Kaplan

Grateful to @sarahbmccannbmore and @sbm_gallery for this look back on the last 6-7 years of my practice. We were invited to share work from the times before, during and after lockdown. My work changed drastically, not as a response to COVID directly, but because I suddenly and urgently needed color in my work and life. 🌈 Changing that one thing changed everything. The show is up in Baltimore through March and is a compelling survey of this time accross many artists’ practices. I’ll be there March 6th for the first Artists in Conversation series at the gallery. Buying tickets directly supports this artist-run space. I would love to see you there! Shown here in reverse chronological order: 1. Cauliflower Ear, 2022 2. Whispers in the Grass, 2022 3. The Sky is Falling (panel), 2021 4. The Sky is Falling, 2021 5. Overpass, 2019 *Also, notice the chickens? I can’t help myself 🐥

So excited for @sarahbmccannbmore , my friend of over 15 years (!!!), who is opening a gallery this week in Baltimore’s Highlandtown neighborhood using sheer willpower and an unwavering belief in artists. Sarah supported my work in the very earliest days, before I even called myself an artist. Excited to be sharing some of the work that’s gotten me to where I am today, feels like a full circle moment. And what a gift to be among other artists whose work and creative journeys I admire. Follow along at @sbm_gallery . More about the show below: 💫 This exhibition is an investigation of how a global pandemic changed (or didn’t) our life, world, and art. Each invited artist will include something they made before the COVID shut down, something they made during lockdown, and something they made after/now. The observation of changing style, theme, materials, and more in the artwork will shed light on what shifted for these artists individually and make comment on what has transformed - or not - in our larger world. Featuring: Schroeder Cherry, Heather Douglas, Allison Duggan, Denise Gantt, Nora Howell, Tiffany Jones, Sara Kaltwasser, Paula Phillips, Christine Stiver, Adam Thorman

I’m overwhelmed by gratitude to @dominicterlizzi and @tsa_ny who manifested a dream; to the poets, performers and writers who lent their words; and to everyone who traveled, sometimes great distances or in terrible weather without the train, to see The Chickens. It means the world to have your attention for even one second, and your heart for any time at all. These sculptures don’t feed people or protect them from Facism, but they saved my sanity at times and made me feel deeply at others, so I’m grateful I could share them with you. I was really struck by a visit from the nephews who treated the sculptures with such tenderness and curiosity. It’s so nice to be reminded in brand news ways what love looks like. 🫶 I wish I could remember everything that was said and all the details that made it so special, but the magic presides in its temporality. Thanks so much for being there with me 💛
