✨Join us at The Gallery reception for Flora & Fauna, part 2 on Wednesday, May 20th from 5:30 - 7:30 PM. ✨ On view now through August 31. Featuring sculptural wall installations by Tempe-based Jackie Brink + mixed media works on paper by Tucson - based artist Lex Gjurasic. The Gallery @mountainshadowsaz @drimbus_ @lexgjurasic Read more>>> Part 2 of Flora & Fauna is an exploration in Maximalism, examining human nature and internal landscapes. Jackie Brink’s surreal, emotionally charged, intentionally ad-hoc wall sculptures exude the elation that can be found in release. The symbolism and functionality of domestic detritus are flipped to manifest new meaning. Both her training as a psychological therapist and past experience as an art conservator inform Brink’s liberated approach to smashing, repairing and re-making. Using her grandfather’s hammer, Brink deconstructs the delicate act of Kintsugi with her thought-stopping, imaginative, and emotive works. Secret messages and relatable outbursts are hidden among purposely goopy, gold leaf offering the reward of discovery and words of encouragement. Brink rejoices in process and exercises her freedom to emerge, full of acceptance and hope. Lex Gjurasic's Flower Mounds celebrate notions of home. With a nod to her roots as a first generation American and reverence for traditional Slavic art and botanicals, her floral motifs reflect on traditions of embroidery on garments, decorative egg painting and Croatian silver filigree jewelry. Gjurasic revels in the pleasure and solace of instinctive mark making generating joyful explosions of color animated by the shimmering effects of glitter and metallic mediums, Her large scale works on paper evoke an immersive gallery experience emulating the carefree adventure of frolicking through a meadow bursting with blooms. Gjurasic’s work is also on view at the Tucson Botanical Garden and will be included in the upcoming Arizona Biennial at the Tucson Museum of Art.

Flora & Fauna ✨Join us for part 1 gallery reception on Wednesday, April 1 from 5:30 - 7:30 PM✨ Part 1: March 5 – April 30 On view now at The Gallery @mountainshadowsaz Lena Klett Daniella Napolitano Lynda Frese Jonathan Bond Teresa Villegas Jóse Bermúdez Part 2: May 6 – June 30 Lex Gjurasic Jackie Brink Flora & Fauna is a small group exhibition presented two parts featuring local, national and international artists whose works transcend representation with dream like observations of environmental themes. Lena Klett connects to her surroundings through careful observation and genuine interaction with objects from nature. Her abstractions capture the freedom of play while her attention to detail slows time and heightens the sense of wonder. Jóse Bermúdez was a prolific painter, sculptor and photographer. He set the stage for his photographic still life series inside the outdoor alcove built into his home. Intriguing narratives are revealed in his arrangements of every day, mundane elements from the kitchen and collections of keepsakes juxtaposed in shrines to memory. Daniella Napolitano depicts the often overlooked, misidentified or misunderstood. Her loving portraits of wildlife in urban habitats explore the complex relationships between animal, humans and environment. Lynda Frese uses photography, collage and tempera painting techniques in her gem-like, surreal landscapes and cinematic botanical studies. Juxtaposed imagery and gem-like color palettes evoke dream states, mysterious and otherworldly. Jonathan Bond’s experience as a writer informs his literary approach to digital collage. Borrowing from textbook illustration and his using his own pedestrian photography he effects animated sequencing through studies in variation. Teresa Villegas’s painting graphically illustrates landscapes of internal and external human experience. Informed by her background in science, her figurative and botanical paintings explore color, emotion and magical realism.

On view at The Gallery @mountainshadowsaz Landscape Interactions brings together four unique curatorial voices*, each representing dynamic selections of local, national, and international artists. Join us in welcoming Phoenix Metro, Arizona-based gallerists Lisa Sette Gallery, Reyes Contemporary, and De Sarthe Gallery as we celebrate our cultural community, and examine the conceptual threads that unfold through a range of artistic approaches, viewpoints and interpretations of landscape—past, present, future, and otherworldly. Landscape art serves as a mirror, reflecting our relationship with place, memory, and environment. Artists challenge us to rethink our connections to the land—its histories, futures, and ever evolving narratives. From sweeping vistas and intimate natural details to abstract terrains and speculative worlds, the viewer is invited to consider not only what they see, but how they see. On view now through December 10, 2025 at The Gallery @mountainshadowsaz . Paintings, prints and photographs by groundbreaking artists Dorothy Fratt, Geny Dignac and José Bermúdez. ——————————————————————Three classical elements are seen as fundamental building blocks of the world, with Earth symbolizing stability and grounding, fire symbolizing transformation and passion, and air representing intellect and change. This exhibition connects these three dynamic forces through their chance meeting that evolved into a deep and enduring friendship.* Dorothy Fratt, originally from Washington, D.C., Geny Dignac, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and José Bermúdez, born in Havana, Cuba, all resided in Washington, D.C., before each relocating to Phoenix, where they met. Lured by the desert horizons and the free-spirited lifestyle of the West, they united through movements in Abstract Expressionism as they individually built alliances with prominent artists, museums, and galleries, regularly exhibiting locally, nationally, and internationally. The three artists (often including renowned AZ-based painter Phillip Curtis) spoke to each other almost daily, challenging and supporting each other through demanding, storied art careers and real life. The exhibition, Earth, Fire, Air, spans generations, celebrates the bonds of friendship, and highlights the impactful legacy of these groundbreaking artists. *Thank you to Gregory Fratt and Melanie Bermúdez.

ON VIEW The Gallery @mountainshadowsaz UTILITY: Form and Function July 5 - September 30, 2025 ✨CLOSING RECEPTION ON SEPTEMBER 24, 5:30 - 7:30 PM ✨ Stephanie Lin Matt Magee Wendy Raisanen Multi-disciplinary, Paris born, Arizona based artist, Matt Magee employs photography as a means of record keeping in his investigation of pattern and contemporary language. Informed by his travels and research in geology and archaeology, Magee captures pedestrian moments that resonate. His precisely arranged compositions evoke secret codes and symbolic messaging. Methods of stacking and sequencing translate in two and three-dimensional works. With his unconventional use of recycled materials and distinctive eye for the unusual, Magee transforms the everyday into the wondrous. Canadian, New York and Scottsdale, Arizona based designer and educator Stephanie Lin examines form and material through the lens of architecture. With digital and hands on approaches her works encapsulate lightness and ephemerality. UTILITY highlights Lin’s recent monumental, interactive, sculptural installation commissioned by Public Art Company for the renowned Coachella Music and Arts Festival. Her dreamy, cloud-like forms ranging from 25 to 50 feet tall provide communal and contemplative space that transcends the desert experience. Lin’s built work is reimagined for the gallery perspective through new printed drawings and artifacts, offering a welcoming glimpse into the process of creation. Scottsdale, Arizona based fiber artist and public art curator Wendy Raisanen expands on quilting traditions to engage community. Her series Happy Now addresses current themes of commodity and transportation, environment, and human nature. Via colorful, thoughtfully crafted tapestries resembling painted canvases, Wendy boldly engages soft power and invites the viewer to discovery and meaningful connection. >Images left to right, Stephanie Lin, Taffy, 2025. Installations, drawings and prints by Claire Blanchette are on view now through May 2025 at The Gallery @mountainshadowsaz . “Using mycelium, fungal spores, kombucha cultures, and found natural items I create sculptures, drawings, and prints. I try to control these materials; however, their inherently unruly qualities force me to give them agency. Recently, I have been developing a mycelium clay mixture to build and grow sculptures using the fungi’s innate tendencies. I develop my drawing and printmaking practice alongside the sculptures, ensuring each influences the form of the other. Throughout my work, I am in conversation with landscape ecology diagrams, urban maps, and scientific illustrations that help me investigate the flexible boundaries between the built and natural worlds.” - ClaireBlanchette @clr_fall
