Last month, I was able to invite a group out to @thelandwithnoname to unveil the third and final iteration of Ruins. I have been deep into thesis work recently but this day has been stuck in the back of my mind. I’m so glad that so many were able to join me to see the sculpture and talk about the process and future of this work ❣️🍄 Forever grateful for the support from @lwnnman & @litllightning in envisioning and installing this work at The Land and @uazschoolofart Marcia Grand Centennial Sculpture Prize for providing the financial support to make this project possible. Documentation from my exhibition at @mccraygallery is up on my website now Link in bio :-) -Reishi mycelium (Ganoderma Lucidum), reishi spores, hemp hurd, hardwood shavings, xanthan gum, guar gum, screen print, xerox toner transfer, grommets, mason line is a series of three double-sided drawings that explore the interdependent relationships between humans and nature. Reishi mycelium (ganoderma lucidium) slowly consume printed images of human traces in the land. Based on where the material is placed on one side, the mushrooms create a drawing in response on the other. As the mycelium grows, it slowly consumes the paper and printed images, reclaiming spaces of human extraction and intervention in the process.
