✨ Nine years ago today, a dare sent me down the pathway from hobbyist to professional photographer. Five years later, to the day, I launched @candlewickstudios1 ! Hi. My name is John & I am the 28-year old human behind the umbrella-brand that is Candlewick Studios. I call it my "umbrella-brand" because not only is Candlewick my photography, but my artist/band & brand management, my publicity work, my website design & content management, and honestly probably a handful of other things I'm not thinking of at this moment. But to me, Candlewick is more than that. The name comes from a quote (partially misattributed to the Buddha) that says, "One candle may not light up a room but thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle and the light of that candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared." I see my work that way. For the last couple of years, when asked what I do my answer has been "I do whatever sh*t musicians and small businesses need to do to survive so they can do more of what makes life worth living." Everyone I work with is a part of Candlewick Studios in a way -- even you reading this right now. So, I guess, Happy Anniversary, dear Follower.
