This allowed us to achieve a very natural and raw feeling in the footage. Additionally, we were a small crew filming over an extended period in Japan, mostly with close friends, which contributed to the intimate and genuine atmosphere of the shoot. Project: ‘You Can’t Beat An Original’ - @keoghan92 @manchesterunited @adidasoriginals DP’s Note: We wanted the look and feel of S16mm film but due to a vast shooting schedule, tight talent turnarounds and live action set plays choosing to work with film was unfeasible with the resources we had available. After a lot of testing and sleepless nights we decided on using the Arri Alexa 35 in Super 16mode with the soft nostalgia texture. This brought us very close to the look and feel of Super16 film especially with the added highlight retention in the new Alev 4 sensor. We paired this with the old 16mm Canon 8-64mm T2.4 (Hurtlocker lens). This allowed us to cover a wide variety of focal lengths as we did not have time for lens changes and gave a nice amount of CA to sell the look further. . Malaria is a short film that depicts the downfall of an ordinary hard-working US citizen, who loses his job, is bitten by a mosquito, and descends into a fever and sickness. While being ignored by those surrounding him and finding himself in the darkest of places, this citizen's journey ultimately leads to him with no other option than to live in the streets - houseless. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It is a metaphor showing how quickly and unexpectedly, one small event can be catastrophic. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As filmmakers, we learned a lot from making this film, so we decided to create a campaign - #houselessnothomeless. With this campaign, we aim to dig into the collective consciousness and bring awareness to the homeless crisis in Los Angeles, currently one of the most pressing issues in the City. .
