I do think it’s important to build a team and stick to them but also work with people that actually like and care for your image and likeness. I tell Naturi all the time I care about how she looks, it’s important to me, she’s an icon. Period.

This post is for the one and only @therealdebbieallen the icon and I can now call a mentor. Thank you for seeing me beyond makeup and advocating for me to be the Makeup Designer/ consultant for @joeturnerbway .
Mrs. Debbie taught me that it’s ok to show up in my authority but to add a little sweetness to it. She taught me to open doors for others and if they fly I still look good because my impact was part of that. This industry is built on people wanting to be known for opening a door and sometimes it’s ok to just be the connector you’re called to be and go off and do it in other places.
I realize my @morethanjustmakeup__ mentorship has been refined in a beautiful way by just being present when I’m around greatness.

Being the makeup consultant for Joe Turners Come and Gone on Broadway has stretched me. The first two weeks I focused on running around shopping for makeup building kits for each performer then doing mini lessons to teach them how the makeup should look. Sitting through tech week. SITTING THROUGH TECH WEEK!!! TECH WEEK🤪😩🤪!!!
The period is 1910s so it’s mostly clean beauty except for a couple of ladies who got to wear a full face but make it 1900s.
Drawing on face charts like I was back to @maccosmetics and just making sure I dot my i and cross my t.
This gig stretched me and I would do it again. Broadway is not easy but I’m so thankful for the experience.
