The look is inspired by a painting from the Harlem Renaissance "The Girl in the Pink Dress " by Laura Wheeler Waring. It portrays a young Black woman with a drop-waisted flapper dress. The painting represents youthful innocence! A time where women were beginning to redefine femininity and freedom for black women. Angela represents the "Aging Body" of the painting i.e. the young woman in the painting has aged into Angela Bassett! She represents the softness of aging where youth steps into maturity!
