On Friday 7 November, we invite you to ‘Music for Kerry James Marshall’; an introspective, live music cocoon inspired by the themes and feelings of @RoyalAcademyArts ’ five-star autumn exhibition featuring: ☆ Chloe Filani (@1.chloe.f ) ☆ @MiriamAdefris ☆ Special Guest (US)* ☆ Audio Visual Ensemble: Open Rehearsal with @RoxanneTataei & @DanielOduntan ☆ @AlexRitaa (DJ) *It’s a true honour to host our unannounced special guest; a truly world-renowned American writer, poet, musician and director-actor, who Errol has previously collaborated with. Throughout the evening we turn RA’s The Fine Rooms into a beanbag-filled concert space that ushers people to further celebrate, sink into and reflect on 'The Histories' — the largest exhibition of Marshall’s paintings outside of the US, and the first chance for many to experience his works in the UK. This Sunday a dream of mine comes true. Im bringing @calmroots to NYC. Ever since I stumpled upon the wholesome and embracing space that is L&SD last year (thank god for Laraaji and physical flyers) I’ve been dreaming of bringing CR into the space. This Sunday its happening🥹 (7-11pm) Ive invited the sweetest and immensely talented @adenniye and their trio to share space with me as we soundtrack the sunset. Kyle and Benji, thank you so much for inviting me back into your space. Bringing @CalmRoots to Naarm/Melbourne this week — limited tickets available now via RA. I’ve invited one of the sweetest, my dear friend Kuzich (@kztheboogieman ) and harpist Freedom Fly (@babyfrdmfly ) to summon the restful spirits with me. We will be gathering at the beautiful High Note, my favourite place in town❤️ Thank you immensely to @HighNote_____ and @CrownRuler for helping me make it happen. Naarm has a special place in my heart, so sharing from it in this way means so much.

Wooow @le_guess_who — thank you so much for the huge honour of opening the festival. To curate a @calmroots stage at the majestic Jacobikerk and to be met with such a level of trust (putting together a lineup of whoever I wanted) was dream come true🧡 I’m still sitting with the fact that CR is now able to connect with people in real life in this way; all from the roots of my little NTS Radio show. The night felt like a new phase for Calm Roots and I can’t wait to experiment more with this feeling. I feel so lucky to be given the opportunity to share the spirit of Calm Roots with a wider audience and highlight this ensemble of very special artists in the process. @heylionmilk @afromerm , @rohanayinde , @astr0nne and the legendary Wadada Leo Smith — all of their music resonates with me deeply. Thank you for being a festival that still centres and values the emerging, the new and the undiscovered. I feel like a lot of festivals in recent times have forgotten the importance of discovery and play it so safe, leaving little room for surprise and to be taken a back by the unknown. The feelings attached to stumbling across a life-altering musical experience that stops you in your tracks. That is the foundation… Thank you for being a festival that still dares to take chances, and for letting me do me🫂 Thank you immensely to Robin/@36framez for capturing the energy so vividly. @calmroots LIVE: NOV 13 (MAR) / NOV 17 (LDN) For soo long ive visualized Calm Roots as a tangible space in my mind, to deeply feel and float in communion. After having put all my energy and focus into our son the past year, its been really overwhelming to find enough energy within this journey of motherhood , to try realise this space. On Wednesday Nov 13th (Margate) and Sunday Nov 17th (London/ SOLD OUT) im nervous but excited to invite you to the first iteration of Calm Roots LIVE It means so much to me to have one of my favorite artist, Lionmilk (LA) play his dream-like piano-scapes for us on both nights. (It his first time playing in London) As for the last 6 years, Lionmilk has made it into almost every NTS show. A testement to how much I love his music. If you know me more intimately, you will know that Rahel, a fellow new mother and my chosen sister, is a light in my life. We share a curiosity and passion for the holistic, that has lead Rahel to become a sound therapist. Its an honour to have her grace the space with her crystal bowls, meditative knowledge and bright spirit. Paul Camo (a very serious DJ and collector of meaningful objects) hosts one of my fav shows on NTS.. (we are.. w/Paul Camo) Now a Margate resident, im grateful that he will share some of his more ambient side of his collection. Tickets are limited for both evenings, i hope you can join us. After 9 months of motherhood - trying to strike the right balance between being present with our sun and navigating dream building - I’m super excited to say I have curated a whole @calmroots stage for @le_guess_who festival 2024. The music created by these artists is the foundation of my Calm Roots @nts_radio show, and I couldn’t and wouldn’t be doing this work without their creations. I’ve been wanting to explore @calmroots as a physical space for a long time now. For gathering and grounding in commune with one another (and a little less/as opposed to only in solitude via the airwaves) Earlier this month it finally happened. The first iteration of ‘Calm Roots live’. And it felt incredibly dreamy, reflective and safe. + it was such special feeling re contextualizing the deep energy of IWOYI. Thanks to everyone who came down to try this new thing with me, accompanied by my chosen brother @rohanayinde sharing excerpts from IWOYI. I love you! I had also invited a special guest; insaaanely talented, @__felixtaylor to share his sonic universe with the space, and wauw we all traveled✨ Thank you so much for being there Felix! I have some really exciting news to share soon.
