A bit of the process for Les Liaisons Dangereuses! I didn’t put my special thanks in the last post as I wanted to dedicate this one to the makers in our department. While I did make some of these pieces myself (the servant masks, servant stoles, Merteuil’s corset), there was an entire team of talented creators behind this piece.
The costume shop comprised of Mary Zihal, Deborah Bloch,
@clarissawylie ,
@savagevanhorn ,
@susanbaziz , Linda Kelley-Dodd, Maria Teodosio, and Eli Oremland were such incredible collaborators and I always looked forward to my time at the shop because I was able to see how they interpreted this world. I was incredibly lucky that Carmel Dundon took on the construction of Merteuil’s costume. I had this crazy vision of 18th C. meets Galliano meets deconstruction in the form of a quick change in the finale, and Carmel was able to take in all of that to create stunning garments with a collage of textures. Of course, none of this would have happened without
@christinemszczepanski leading the team and really supporting this process with intentionality and grace. Thank you all SO much!
Thank you to my sissy,
@lexiekrieg for coming up to work on the hair, makeup, and prosthetics. I always wanted to see you dive into the creative world and I’m so happy you jumped on the ship even if it meant changing ideas overnight. For this to have been your first theater production, I think you nailed it and I’m proud of you.
Thank you to
@pradaofficial , Zoe Nagel, and
@maya.is.tired for holding down the fort in wardrobe land. I know it was a roller coaster of a process, but I was never worried because I knew the costumes were in good hands. Also Zoë and Maya doing their first costume track and it being historical garments? Knocked it out of the park.
Lastly, thank you to my assistant
@brooks_sanwandee.nicolej This woman was my rock in this production. She came in ready to tackle whatever was awaiting her. She even took on Tourvel’s flower construction and front panel painting (w/
@fairycourtstudio ). The ambition and drive will take you so very far and I’m grateful to have been able to work with you. Thank you so very much!
