🧠 Lecture: “Pentecostal Snake Handling & Ecological Relationality”
🎤 Speaker: Grad Student, Blake Long @blakeavris
🗓️ Date: The footage in this video is from April 2, 2026
📍Location: Midtown, Manhattan @grislypear
🐍 We gathered for a provocative evening as Blake Avris Long explored Pentecostal serpent handling as a way to rethink how humans relate to the more-than-human world.
💭Moving beyond sensationalized portrayals, this lecture treated serpent handling as an imaginative space where vulnerability, risk, and interspecies relationality reshaped what counts as knowledge.
🧠Blake Long is a second-year graduate student at Yale University. His research focuses on intersections of Pentecostal and charismatic Christianity with queer studies, illuminating how marginalized religious experiences generate new forms of meaning-making.
🍸 Lectures on Tap has chapters in NYC, LA, San Francisco, Chicago, and Boston.
